The heart of the wise inclines to the right, but the heart of the fool to the left. Ecclesiastes 10:2
In light of the Daffodil Principle where individual efforts over time add up to a mammoth contribution, we are looking at ways to use this lesson as we seek to promote conservatism, the Republican Party and the administration of George Bush.
We are currently involved in a letter-writing campaign - Project Daffodil-Letters. Some of us have been involved in the Klamath Falls Petition, and the People First petition to defund the Endangered Species Act. How to Help
How you can help....
New York State WTC Relief Fund
"We will not tire, we will not falter and we will not fail."
Peel and cut potatoes... place in WELL SALTED water. Potatoes are nothing without salt. Always season your water.
Peel a couple of cloves of garlic, about one clove per potato. Place the cloves in the water with the taters.
Boil everything. If you have a pressure cooker, even better. A pressure cooker is not only faster, but it infuses the flavors. The new pressure cookers are not like the old fashioned kind the blew up, they are very cool and don't explode.
After the potatoes are tender, drain, leaving just a little water, I am talking like 1/4 cup here.
Start smashing everything while adding butter, and I mean BUTTER, not margerine, half and half ( use milk if you want ) and cream cheese. Yes, you heard me, Cream Cheese.
The garlic will be really soft and just mash in with everything. This is not a wicked garlic taste, it's very mellow yet so delicious.
Serve to a loving family and friends who will rave about your Smashed Potatoes.
Don't forget the salt and pepper, and make sure your salt is Kosher.
Off to the dentist this morning for a new crown. Hot diggity dog! ;-\
See ya'll when I git back!
I highly recommend pressure cookers. I use mine all the time. Artichokes, corned beef, pot roast, soups.
Second is a letter to the editor for which I had to respond.
Santa, not flag
Our spirit shattered with the World Trade Center and Pentagon attacks. Our emotions flowed in every direction. When we needed comfort, we united under the "Red, White and Blue." We decorated every corner of America with the U.S. flag.
Now it is time to fold our flags respectuflly and put them where they belong.
When we see a flag in a shopping mall or a store window, it unintentionally brings back to memory the horrible events of Sept. 11. This uncomfortable feeling keeps us from shopping and continuing with our usual daily lives.
Therefore, if we would like to sell more products and get our economy going we should be more careful not to wrap Santa Claus with the flag. Happy Holidays! Karahan Mete, Davis,CA
Well after seeing some of my posts you had to know this got my ire. So dear sistern and brethern my response: A letter was published in USA Today on November 14th that stated: "When we see a flag in a shopping mall or a store window, it unintentionally brings back to memory the horrible events of Sept. 11. This uncomfortable feeling keeps us from shopping and continuing with our usual daily lives."
I'm so saddened that the writer is uncomfortable with the flag of the United States. I imagine she hasn't been able to shop for years or even get out of her house because every time she saw the flag it brought back memories of the American Revolution, Civil War, WWI, WWII, Korea and Vietnam. I imagine this has been terribly disconcerting for her to be reminded of the Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights and Constitution.
It will NEVER be time to "fold our flags respectfully and put them where they belong." For where the flag belongs is where it is being displayed...flying high over this nation. She can fold her flag and hide it in a drawer and fly Santa from a yardarm , flagpole or car antenna.
Thank you for another vent. Happy Holidays.
We just started out school day, the eldest jedi is working on fractions.
I'm bringing this forward from the end of the last thread....read it and weep, dear Guilders:
Have y'all heard about the antrhax search going on up in Chester, Pa.? It's unbelievable! According to the NY Post, the FBI haz-mat teams are scouring two houses in Chester. They didn't disclose what they're looking for, but get this:
One of the houses belongs to the city's health commissioner, Irshad Shaikh, a Pakistan native. Shaikh has a Ph.D. in epidemiology and public health from Johns Hopkins University.
Investigators also questioned Shaikh's brother, Masood Shaikh, who is in charge of Chester's lead-abatement program.
The second home belongs to Chester's city accountant, Asif Kazi,( another Paskistan native).
Now what gives with all those foreigners holding so many important jobs in one little city? The people of Chester are going to look pretty foolish if it turns out the anthrax came from these guys...and the city had put them in charge of health, haz mat, and finances. How diverse of them!
Our diversity, our strength - what a load of horse bleep.
Let's all go to our Funk & Wagnall's, and check out the real definition of diverse - I'm not finding anything about strength, or unity, or much of anything good or solid associated with diverse. Sheesh!
Apparently, there weren't any Americans qualified for the positions (/sarcasm). To make matters worse, I'd bet a lot of these guys came to the US and obtained their educations at our expense, for the most part. There isn't a foreign student at our local college who actually pays his own way - either their govt or ours does it.
