Macedonian Group Warns of Violence

SKOPJE, Macedonia -- A new group of militants declared a "highest alert" in ethnic Albanian areas of Macedonia on Thursday and warned government forces to keep out.

"All such forces will be attacked without warning if they try to enter (ethnic) Albanian areas," the self-styled Albanian National Army said in a statement obtained by The Associated Press.

Declaring that "no international pressure would convince us to drop our weapons," the group urged former ethnic Albanian guerillas to join its ranks.

The strength of the militants was unclear. Earlier this week it claimed responsibility for the killings of three police officers in the tense northwestern region of Tetovo.

Insurgents began fighting Macedonian government forces in February, then agreed to a cease-fire in August in exchange for more rights for their ethnic Albanian minority.

The new group said it sees "war as the only response" to underscore ethnic Albanian demands for equality with Macedonians, the most populous ethnic group in the former Yugoslav republic.

In another development, Interior Minister Ljube Boskoski, who is in charge of Macedonia's police, said Thursday he was resigning from the government's Crisis Management Committee.

The committee was formed to coordinate moves designed to re-establish government control over areas where ethnic Albanian rebels operated.

Boskoski has been a hard-line advocate of more robust action against Albanian militants, and his move could be designed to allow him a freer hand to react.

Deputy Prime Minister Ilija Filipovski said that "all further police actions will be undertaken according to the situation in the field."

One sign of optimism for a resolution came from a parliamentary meeting to discuss amendments to the constitution meant to give ethnic Albanians more rights.

Parliament speaker Stojan Andov said proposed changes to the constitution -- part of a peace plan meant to reconcile the ethnic Albanian minority with majority Macedonians -- "might be adopted by Saturday."

The situation remained tense near the northern villages of Semsovo, Trebos and Palatica, just outside Tetovo, after a brief firefight between police and presumed ethnic Albanian militants Wednesday.

Three police officers were killed in the region Sunday after dozens moved in to secure an area believed to contain burial sites.

Police detained seven ethnic Albanian men carrying weapons. When their comrades retaliated by abducting dozens of Macedonian civilians, the three were killed in an unsuccessful rescue operation.

The hostages were freed Monday after Western envoys helped to mediate a deal.

NATO spokesman Craig Ratcliff announced an investigation of a suspected burial site near Tetovo believed to contain bodies of Macedonians abducted by ethnic Albanian militants earlier this year.

Macedonian authorities, NATO representatives and investigators of the Netherlands-based U.N. war crimes tribunal are to participate in the exhumations starting early next week, Ratcliff said.

Once again the Kosovo Liberation Army prepares to stun the world with a daring offensive designed to liberate the Tetovo Republic from Slavic hegemonism -- and topple the illegal government of Skopje. No longer will the territories of Greater Albania permit Slavic paramilitary formations to slaughter innocent Albanian women and children.

The KLA High Command earlier in the week issuing a new General Order relaxing the Rules of Engagement in liquidating Slavic police officers in Macedonia. They are now to be shot on sight -- scores of these so called police officers in reality Macedonian commandos attempting to infiltrate the Tetovo Republic.

Skopje must surrender her false claims of sovereignty in this region or be destroyed. New equipment and arms arriving daily to reconstituted KLA/UCK cadres as they prepare for the coming offensive.

With the Third World War escalating daily, Washington sends a strong signal to her KLA allies that the Southern perimeter of Camp Bondsteel must be defended by Albanian fighters. Macedonia isolated now -- and soon to wither and die...

The forces of freedom on the move. Europe trembles.

Just another "peace loving" Albanian darling of the west.

Unfortunately the Kosovo Liberation Army is still some six weeks away from being prepared to take the battle to the Greek oppressors. It is much more likely that a fall campaign will be initiated to free the hundreds of thousands of innocent Albanians that continue to suffer under the jack booted heel of Athens.

This timing will permit attacks to be launched from both southern Albania and the Tetovo Republic -- as waves of fresh formations strike for freedom in the Balkans. The Greek rabble, like their Macedonian brethren, unable to withstand the firepower of a concentrated KLA/UCK assault.

Why does Athens seek war with peace loving Albanians that only wish freedom in their historical lands? The Tirana-Prishtina-Tetovo axis has been much too generous with Greece in the past. Athens would be well advised to learn the Macedonian lesson carefully. Her time will be coming soon.

The forces of freedom on the move. Europe trembles.

How could one so well informed as you make such a horribly inaccurate prediction and keep spieling off more laughable predictions today?

You have as much insight into the machinations of Albanian Nationalists in the Balkans as everybody else here - that is to say, none.

Don't you wish you could erase your past posts so people couldn't see what a joke you are? Here's an idea - if you quit posting today, nobody will be able to look back 6 months from now and compare your current predictions to future events and expose you for the charlatan you continue to be.

Pearls before swine, I know.

Radical paramilitary group emerges in Macedonia, South Serbi[a]

20:01 SKOPJE, Thursday – A new nationalist extremist group calling itself the Albanian National Army has emerged in Macedonia, southern Serbia, Montenegro and northern Greece, Skopje daily Vest writes today.

The report claims that the group, whose mission is to unite all Albanian nationals, has arisen as a consequence of the disarmament of the National Liberation Army in Macedonia.

The Albanian National Army is described as espousing a Marxist-Leninist ideology and being supported by leading extremist figures obsessed with the establishment of Greater Albania.

The paper claims that the new formation is hostile not only towards people of other ethnicity but also to the international presence in the Balkans as well as moderate Albanians.

“The ANA’s fighters don’t recognise Ali Ahmeti and the Albanian political leaders in Macedonia, Kosovo and Albania. The only thing they recognise is the Kosovo Protection Corps and Ramush Haradinaj, the former deputy of General Agim Ceku,” writes Vest. [Source: B92]

Hoplite, I am responding to the quote attributed to Fusion

Hooray! Greece will get another holiday to celebrate in the Fall. Now, will that be before or after they celebrate OXI DAY.

You are such a fool. I'd pray for your soul, but you obviously don't have one. Albanians are probably treated better in Greece than in any other European country. And the ones you claim to be champing at the bit to commit violence in Epirus, were Nazi collaborators (and now allies of the Nazis of the 21st century--terrorists) Name one legal Albanian resident in Greece that is ill treated! And to all you backstabbing Americans--you should be thankful that Greece has been there in SE Europe holding the fort!

Thank God for the force of Hellenism on the move. Barbarians tremble

Oooooh the "shining path" of the Balkans--we are so scared. Lets pray for the peace loving Albanians--they are about to suffer one of their typical historic defeats.

The force of Hellenism moves. Barbarians tremble--and then get minimum wage jobs with the OSCE.

Fusion, or whatever your name is: This sounds just EXACTLY like something you posted several months ago! Events march on, and you still say that the "Kosovo Liberation Army prepares to stun the world with a daring offensive...".

Well, that imminent "offensive" is sounding like it's frozen in time! It's getting a bit tiresome!!

Dear Top Quark Welcome to Freerepublic! Do some research about Fusion and what he posts. I did not find any indication that AE was the target. It is unfortunate, but it is close to Nov. 17.

Hi Lads and laddets

Pericles I see Greece is sending 300 men to Kosovo.

What I want to know is what the hell is happening the war should of started by now.

Bosnia should be in flames with dead NATO soldiers all over the place victims of Osama lot. I mail my friend most days telling him why is on the piste why is he not holed up in some bunker with screaming fanatical mobs on both sides.

Where is the blood bath and herds of refugees.

Fusion these Albanians protecting the camp will they be merged with the Greek lot.

Its good to see that the Freerepublic Balkan War gaming team are still at it.

You should pay attention to my posts more. Kosovo is a chess game of manouver and counter-manouver. A war of position. The Albanians do not need to shoot directly at NATO to attack them. All they have to do is block the Kosovo supply road here or there. NATO has an Achilles heel and the Albanians know where it is and how to apply pressure at the weakest point on that NATO chain.

Fusion mixes facts on the ground with goals and whishes and propoganda. Also he is trying to scare off Americans of any notion of intervention. Just before the FYROM flare up Fusion was posting cautionary posts about the area until the fighting began. Now his role (and it might be an indi/self imposed role) to frighten off Americans from the Balkans. And he has a good argument for scaring them. Be afraid, be very afraid.

If anything happens look for it to happen after Ramadan (during the snows and after the Kosovo "elections").

Bosnia is a safe haven. A resting stop. Al-Qaeda would never do anything that would cause the shut down of that pit stop.

A bit like North Ireland then, move counter move and brinkmanship.

Don’t forget the next time you post a thread add Harry Potter to the title to get maximum hits.
