Explosion Rocks Macedonian City

By ALEKSANDAR VASOVIC, Associated Press Writer

SKOPJE, Macedonia (AP) - A powerful explosion on Sunday ripped through a city in northwestern Macedonia, and a shadowy ethnic Albanian militant group claimed responsibility for the blast.

Macedonian police said an explosive device was detonated near the market in Tetovo, but no one was injured.

``It was a strong explosive device of an unidentified type, several shops were damaged'' police spokesman Vasko Sutarov told The Associated Press.

Alban Berisha, a spokesman for a new militant group calling itself the Albanian National Army, told the AP by telephone that his organization claims responsibility for the bomb attack.

``This is a response to (interior minister Ljube) Boskovski's claims that we are nonexistent and a phantom organization,'' Berisha said.

He also announced that there would be ``more similar actions during next week.''

The explosion came a day after Macedonian police and ethnic Albanian rebels traded gunfire near the village of Preljubiste, just outside a tense area where three policemen were slain earlier in the week.

The Albanian National Army earlier threatened a new insurgency, saying that it had ``started the war for the liberation of all Albanian territories in former Yugoslavia,'' an allusion to Macedonia's former status as a Yugoslav republic.

Another, much larger militant group -the National Liberation Army - began fighting in February for greater rights for Macedonia's ethnic Albanian minority, but agreed to end its struggle in August when a peace deal expanding their rights was reached.

Acknowledging that his group had only about 50 fighters, Berisha nonetheless said they were well-trained and equipped and were ``more than enough to wage a guerrilla war in Macedonia.''

These are not militants, these are terrorists. We should never have supported them. They deal Agfhan heroin all over Europe to finance their terror campaigns. Clinton strikes again.

There can be little doubt that the Kosovo Liberation Army has made clear its intentions to defend the borders of the Tetovo Republic from Slavic aggression. Skopje has no mandate to rule in Greater Albania -- their claims of sovereignty are false and illegal.

Who is the United Nations to draw boundaries for Albanians? Bretton Wood is dead -- this is the 21st century and antiquated notions of the post World War II era have long been expired -- if not directly buried on 9/11.

Albanians will not live under the jackbooted heel of Slavic madmen that care only about lining their pockets with European Union bribes. Albanianism is a most tolerant form of political expression -- however the Code of Lek permits no assault upon Albanian sovereignty.

Terrorists? Why not say that the Minutemen of Concord and Lexington were the same? Just as those American heroes more than two centuries ago, Albanians in the Tetovo Republic have declared their independence and taken up the gun.

Their struggle predicated on the American model. How many American muskets were bought and paid for with tobacco profits? Who is to denigrate the Albanian struggle and not insult all Americans?

The United States is at war -- a war to the death between civilisations. The KLA stands shoulder to shoulder with America in the Balkans -- if you attack the KLA then you attack America and are committing high treason.

How many Americans killed in the Balkans since February? Virtually zero. The KLA protects American servicemen from harm's way in the Balkans. I seriously doubt the mothers and fathers of these brave American servicemen have any problem with the KLA and what they do as long as their children have a modicum of insurgent besa to protect them.

The forces of freedom on the move. Europe trembles.

Terrorists? Why not say that the Minutemen of Concord and Lexington were the same?

'Cause the Minutemen didn't intentionally slaughter innoncent women and children for the false promise of 73 virgins in heaven. And its Kunduz, not Europe, thats trembling - from the B52's bombs and the hoofbeats of the Northern Alliance soldiers riding into town...

As usual, your posts are amusing, Con-Fusion :)

Why, are you saying he was AN UTTER FAILURE?

We "had to." That's were Albright was from. Nothing like chosing sides for "an old friend", eh?

oh, so when america supports, arms, trains and even rescues albanian terrorists, it is ok and the agents of the u.s., the mainstream media follows suit by calling them rebels!

terrorism is terrorism, the u.s. and just about every nation is guilty of it!
