November 19, 2001 -- Cowering Taliban leaders, caught between the ruthless al Qaeda terror ring and encroaching U.S. forces, yesterday said they'd give up their last northern stronghold if Osama bin Laden's henchmen are spared.

Their desperate pitch to hand over Kunduz came after bin Laden's al Qaeda thugs executed scores of Taliban who were attempting to surrender as giant U.S. B-52 bombers pounded the northern city and Northern Alliance rebels battered their front lines with artillery.

I must have read this story in one form or another 10 times since yesterday. The big question that I have not seen answered is:

What does our Government say about this?

They wanna deal?? They were offered a deal more than a month ago: Turn over Bin Laden or end up at the bottom of a Shake & Bake bag. They turned that deal down. They claimed that they had put Bin Laden in a safe place, so they actually know where he is and control his movements, so they could give him to us, and that must be the focus of any deal. As for turning over a city to us, it seems that we could take that city sooner or later without their cooperation. And what are we gonna do with an Afghan city anyway?

The "deal" should be about Osama!

The Taliban will not be history's first religious leaders to die "in bed" with their war lord. Too bad they didn't study a few history books to suppliment their false doctrine.

We should be mercifull and beneficent (like their moon god Allah), and give them a safe passage to the great oasis in the sky. Allahu Akhbar!!

I feel bad for those poor souls who have been conscripted into Taliban service, or whose loyalties to the regime are shallow. It happens. Clearly surrender is called for here; being slaughtered at the hands of their own commanders is ridiculous. Most of these draftees would just return home to try to begin a new life, given the chance.

The majority of the Al-Qaeda types at the top of the heirarchy are of course deadmen at this point, although keeping some of them alive would be quite useful for intelligence purposes, I assume.

I suspect there will continue to be horrific slaughter as Kunduz falls. It will become a dark chapter in this War. It's too bad the Al-Qaeda commanders are so evil, murderous, and suicidal.

You have to admit there is some satisfaction in seeing the Taliban betrayed by the people they protected, can you say "I told you so."

I, too, found this very telling. IMHO, their silence speaks volumes. I believe GWB really meant it when he said, "No negotiations."

Muslims executing Muslims

In a sense yes, but the big picture is Afgans executing their Arab oppressors. This is the story that needs to be told far and wide. Osama is an Arab conqueror and the people he is oppressing are throwing off their Arab masters.

The foreign al Qaeda leaders "showed no mercy" to the fleeing Afghani Taliban, said Mohammed Ibrahim, one witness who escaped the massacre.

This is at least the fifth or sixth eyewitness report of this, since the original Telegraph report. Stratfor's George Friedman was on WABC Saturday night, mocking the report. I wonder if he's still laughing?

"The foreign al Qaeda leaders "showed no mercy" to the fleeing Afghani Taliban"

Oh, the humanity!

"We have decided to fight to the last breath," Abdul Salam Zaeef

OK, we don't have a problem with that.

I gotta wonder, what part of "Not Negotiable" don't these idiots understand? I think W was pretty clear on this, and will serve us to great purpose with the next schmucks in our sights. (Iraq, Iran?)

The article says the opposite. The arabs are murdering their Afghan hosts.

But there likely will be an even bigger massacre of moslim foreigners as soon as any remaining structure within al Qaeda breaks down.

In Kundoz this is true but in the rest of the nation the Afganis turned on the Arabs. This is one of the reasons the Taliban fell so quickly.

One witness said Taliban soldiers openly gunned down eight teenage boys who laughed at them and killed a doctor because he was delayed in attending to wounded Taliban troops.

All they have to do is convince the family and friends of these people they murdered that they should live. Might be a difficult task though, ya think?
