Articles like this paint a picture of Afganistan's small towns as no more than clusters of mud buildings. In my mind...flat roofed adobe huts and cave dwellings, no glass windows, no doors, much like National Geographic depictions of our own wild west Apaches. It can't be that primitive over there, can it? I sure would like to see pictures and video of Kabul, other towns and cities, just to get the correct mental image.

They took his entire collection of "Burhka Babes Monthly" and "Play-Sheep". I heard he was pretty devastated.

Why does any house of bin Laden still exist. Are we that short of bombs?

Not to nitpick but Apaches were not cave or pueblo dwellers. Those cultures predated the Apache in the southwest. The Apache were semi-nomadic and used brush structures called wickiups.

That said, I believe that the builder cultures of the southwest very much resembled "modern" Afghan culture. At that subsistence level cultural patterns are dictated by necessity and are similar worldwide.

In the dust outside lie the partially used remains of a month's supply of birth-control pills.

How weird.

I guess after 10 wives and 30 kids (something like that) Osama's had just about enough, eh?

JALALABAD, Afghanistan — Looters have carried off almost everything of value from the football field-sized fortress that was the summer residence of Osama bin Laden, the presumed mastermind of the September 11 atrocities.

How does the saying go… No fool like an old fool. Did Osama not see this outcome as the logical progression that would occur in wake of his attack on America?
Did he truly believe his God would condone and promote the wholesale killing of innocent people on foreign lands?

We must now finish the task set before us without hesitation, to do otherwise would promote terrorism on a worldwide scale. There can be no other course except the utter destruction of Osama bin Laden, al Qaeda And all that they stand for.

Stake out the local pharmacy, and blammo, a wife will show up eventually.

You're correct to add those other tribes....I wouldn't know one from the other...guess out of ignorance (and too many movies), Apache is what came to mind first.
