[history]
November 19, 2001 -- EARLY on Nov. 9, the Taliban regime ruled almost 95 percent of Afghanistan. Ten days later, it controlled just 15 percent of the country. Key to this quick disintegration was the fact that, awed by American air power, many Taliban soldiers switched sides to the U.S.-backed Northern Alliance.

The problem is that all those who switched sides are still alive to continue their terror at a later date...kill 'em while you have the chance

The U.S. government must continue the war on terror by weakening militant Islam everywhere it exists, from Afghanistan to Atlanta. There ought be no militant Islam in Atlanta. Every non-citizen Islamic ought to be deported immediately. If we let our present victories in Afghanistan blind us to the dangers of allowing Islamics into our country, we shall be hit again, much harder than on 9/11. Deport every non-citizen Islamic now.

I've become a fan of Pipes since 9-11. Before, I thought him rather narrow minded. Now, he seems to understand the situation better than any expert in the field.
Future aid, if any, to Egypt, Pakistan, Indonesia and the rest should be predicated on how many madarasses they close and how many real schools of learning they install.

Pipes has the Muslim school yard bullies pegged. The only thing those people understand and respect is a bootheel on their necks. You don't negotiate with rabid dogs, you shoot them. Muslims, all bluster, no muster.

Also don't forget that the Pakistani Holy Warriors, remember PAKISTANI, our supposed allies.
What's going on Prez? Chuck these dubious friends now that we don't need them and call Israel and India to join us.

The pattern is clear: So long as Americans submitted passively to murderous attacks by militant Islam, this movement gained support among Muslims. When Americans finally fought militant Islam, its appeal quickly diminished. I guess those peaceniks were right again....

For two decades - since Ayatollah Khomeini reached power in Iran in 1979 spouting "Death to America" - U.S. embassies, planes, ships, and barracks have been assaulted, leading to hundreds of American deaths. In the face of this, Washington hardly responded. In defense of Ronald Reagan , he had a much larger evil that had to be stopped, the Soviet Union, which he succeeded in doing. Now that that evil shadow has been lifted off the face of the world we can deal with this old one. That is until the cancerous growth of communism that the treasonous villain Clinton nourished in China becomes large enough to be a bigger problem than the Soviets ever were.

"Victory on the battlefield, in other words, has not only the obvious advantage of protecting the United States but also the important side-effect of lancing the anti-American boil that spawned those attacks in the first place."
Its no different than when we were growing up. You kept quiet when your brother/sister was being disciplined by your parents: you kept your mouth shut or else you would be next.
The dissidents silence is not based on rational thought, just the fear of being next!
To: Nateman
Well, we be responding now!!!!!!! And I hope they kill as many as possible that have "Death to America" in their turbans. I do not give a lot of hope to their nation that raises this kind of young people that 1. Give blame to others for their plight 2. That inbreed (Osama has 11 kids by 1st cousin) 3. Thinks for 1 minute that America's demise would bring anything good for them (Does that make sense since we are buying their oil?)
To: Nateman
You are correct on this one. The next target of our military might should be the last communist stronghold, China, the one country who has, in recent years, threatened us with nuclear assault. Will we let them fester until we have a nuclear 9/11 or Pearl Harbor?
To: kattracks
The world now knows that when President G.W. Bush speaks, Words and Deeds are one and the same.
Thank You Mr. President, for again commanding respect for our great country.

Future aid, if any, to Egypt, Pakistan, Indonesia and the rest should be predicated on how many madarasses they close and how many real schools of learning they install.Absolutely! The one thing the rag heads understand is superior might, and we've demonstrated we have it. Now, under Bush, we're showing the will to use it, and that is making a difference. It's time, as you say, to tell the tin-horn dictatators in these er...friendly...countries to shape up and get on with our program. The Saudia Arabia and Egypt should be read the riot act. Shut down the militants or else.

. In China, the government prohibited the selling of badges celebrating Osama bin Laden ("I am bin Laden. Who should I fear?") only after the U.S. victories began.
Similarly, the effective ruler of Saudi Arabia admonished religious leaders to be careful and responsible in their statements ("weigh each word before saying it") after he saw that Washington meant business. Likewise, the Egyptian government has moved more aggressively against its militant Islamic elements. God is quieting the nations with every burst of every bomb. It's almost like watching a petulant, wisecracking child-turned-mobster/killer, finally getting smacked down to size and slinking away.

I agree with #3 we must get ALL the militants out of the US.

"The problem is that all those who switched sides are still alive to continue their terror at a later date...kill 'em while you have the chance."Maybe, but you're forgetting something. Many of those "troops" were forced conscripts. They didn't want a thing to do with the Taliban but were forced to join at gunpoint..........or threatened with the deaths of loved ones. That is a fact. Doesn't account for all of 'em, I agree, but one whole hell of a lot of 'em. THEY don't deserve to be mowed down. Those who were "genuine" Taliban and are trying to melt back into the population to save their skins will be taken care of by the local populace, I trust.

And maybe, just maybe, they are beginning to clue in. Maybe it won't be such a bad Christmas after all...

I agree with #3 we must get ALL the militants out of the US.I agree also, but not only are we not getting them out, we are letting more in, even to attend flight schools.
