Preparation for Taiwan Invasion 2002-2003 while our attentions are else where??

Good. We'll record it all and begin work on the defense strategy.

Bring it on, I say as many fronts as needed to identify terrorists and the countries that harbor them.

Looks like within 2-3 years if China's timetable is correct.

I used to try my hand at that also. The game was called Harpoon. A US Carrier Battle Group was designed to withstand the attack of massed Russian anti-shipping aircraft and surface vessels at the height of the Cold War. Of course, any system can be overwhelmed, but it would be a tough nut to crack. "Lots of luck" (not really) to the ChiComs -- they'll need it.

We have effectively ANNIHILATED every opponent we have faced lately. Even the Afghans, who supposedly were so tough that the Russians (our fiercest opponents at the time) were run out of the country. Our enemies most intricate and devious defenses against us have proven ineffective. The incredibly deep and complex cave 'cities' have proven no benefit to the Afghans.
If China wants to take us on, they have a very big surprise coming. Many weapons they are unaware of are in development. They will be destroyed, utterly, should they make any hostile move at us.

That's what I have thought Iraq and Afghanistan are just a tuneup on the schedule for Taiwan 2003-2004.

How would the left in this country react if the US staged excercises simulating attacks on the Chinese military?
I guess it's okay for the Chicoms to do this though because they feel threatened by us. </sarcasm off>

Didn't Ol' Bubba Been Laiden get enough illegal campiagn dough to convince the Pentagon we should stop viewing China as our 'enemy?'

Unfortunately, they have acquired weapons from our friends, the Russians, which have the capability of taking out a carrier. Can someone link those stories?

Thanks, I was wondering how they were going to do that... short of using sub nukes.

However, we are in the process of developing a very ingenious counter to this threat. I expect it fielded within a 2 year period.

Oh, and the Russians also have a Cavitation Torpedo, which can go faster than sound underwater. HOWEVER, as the Kursk showed, it has a nasty habit of causing the firing vessel to explode.

Just what is going to happen in 2-3 years? Do the Chicoms plan to declare war on the U.S. or what? I have every reason to believe that the Chinese dragon will roar someday, but they have always been a regional power and not a superpower--though we all know the latter is their ambition. Starting a war with the Free World in only two or three years does seem a bit soon to me. Or did Bubba really screw us over that bad? Beijing can forget about the Olympic games in 2008 then.
