Green Terror - Earth Lovers Can Be Evildoers, Too
Wall Street Journal On-Line ^ | November 24, 2001 | Review & Outlook Section

They blow up buildings and terrorize civilians. Their propaganda says "the profit motive" and capitalists are "destroying all life on this planet." They operate in "cells" that are difficult to trace.

Al Qaeda? No, America's own home-grown terrorists, the Earth Liberation Front. And believe it or not, since September 11 their attacks on civilization have only gotten more brazen and destructive. Since the media rarely report any of this, we thought you might like to know. We'd also say it's time for responsible environmentalists to speak out against them.

Probably Robert Redford is a big donor.

I would not be surprised if they got government grants as part of their funding (at least thru the years 1993-2000)

"the profit motive" and capitalists are "destroying all life on this planet."

The essence of liberalism is to take a slogan such as the one above, and embrace it as the truth because you feel it is the truth. No facts, no evidence, no reason except you just 'feel' it.

But destroying property and risking lives because you decide you want to follow a feeling is positively pyscopathic.

You are behind the curve. The following quote was made in 1999: HREF=http://sanfranciscobay.sierraclub.org/yodeler/199902/ecocontradictions.html

"Eco-contradictions? The Nov. 30 issue of Forbes Magazine carried an article called "Eco-contradictions" attacking environmentalists for opposing the uncontrolled introduction of mechanized recreation into public lands and wilderness. The author is Virginia Postrel, editor of the libertarian magazine Reason."

"After citing an act of terrorism against the Vail ski resort in Colorado (the attack has been claimed by an otherwise unknown Earth Liberation Front), Postrel claims that 'environmentalists are getting disillusioned with recreation,' but that with this attitude they may be shooting themselves in the foot: 'this sort of thinking could destroy the popular base on which environmentalists depend.' 'Today's outdoor enthusiasts . . . lust after gear,' she claims. 'The `environment' is a cherished consumer good. Republican politicians have learned that lesson the hard way. Greens may be next.' "

Sierra Club executive director Carl Pope drafted the following response.

"Dear Editor: "Eco-contradictions" contains a number of distortions, mistaken assumptions, and fallacies. The article's "grabber" may have led readers to believe that the recent Vail arson was somehow indicative of the actions of environmental groups. This is patently false. The Sierra Club loudly and repeatedly condemned the arson as an act of terrorism, not environmentalism. The Sierra Club and other mainstream environmental organizations deplore such acts of violence and will continue to condemn them. Most environmentalists recognize a need for recreation AND the increasing need to weigh..."

Scott McInnis can start by reviewing the federal grants and other money the government gives some Environmental groups and Endangered Species groups. The money trickles down from surprising funds and foundations.

Environmental Terrorism has been with us for quite sometime. We have Al Gore to thank for some of the more recent criminal acts by these cells with his book Earth in Balance, a fairly poetic mythological foray into the world of non-science and junque science and Chief Seattleisms. Then there was Edward Abbey, the original ECO terrorist, author and all around guru of the psuedo-intellectuals flourishing in colleges and universities across the land.

Gore, Abbey, Nader and other Greens, the PETA, Endangered Species people are truly champions to the sandaled, bespeckled, gypsy skirted, hairy non-performers that trot after these quixotic gurus.

They as a lot have never husbanded the land, laid and dug a canal to water their crops, unless it is for hidden crops of marijuana in "their" beloved forests. They have little interest in planning for a real future in marine farming, mining without pollution, creating energy without harming the land but creating it with modern technology. Actually they do little but harm. They are indeed terrorists, vandals, looters who have no solutions, rarely putting their collective shoulders to anything but pipe dreams; truly Juvenal in aptitude with precious little accountability to the hard working society they share the earth with, the ones who pay the taxes so these malcontents can go to college and live on Welfare.

Make no mistake, they are known to each other, cell or no cell and when found, should be held accountable to the full extent of the law.
