The questions of the hour are "Is Islam the problem?" and "If so, then what is Islam?" The West had been waiting for the formidable Salman Rushdie

Very good. This is one of the best pieces I've read on the subject.

We could take out the Middle East militarily - all of them - in about three or four months. The mainland Chinese - a four day weekend. Mexico in a Saturday afternoon.

The fact is we don't do such things because we are both civilized and much prefer business with other nations to conquest. Conquest is messy. Ultimately it is time consuming, boring, expensive and provides little in the way of return long term.

Ever get the opinion the Muslims don't think long-term?

"We will never fear these people again, they have been shown to be soft-bellied paper tigers."

If the Communist Chinese want some of what Afghanistan is getting, they just need to push the U.S. a little. We're a little short tempered right now, and will take no sh*t from anybody, especially the pissant PRC.

Conquest is messy. Ultimately it is time consuming, boring, expensive and provides little in the way of return long term.

Besides, conquest requires we send our young men to live in these Third World hellholes long term. Who really wants to do that? As we are no longer encumbered by the "White Man's Burden", as were the English, we can smack down these fools (as we are doing) then get outta Dodge. The locals can then return to non-threatening Third World hellholeism, without our interference. The American Way as a superior culture is obvious. However, as we all know, you can lead a horse to water . . . . .

One heck of a fantastic article, Kattracks. I was held spellbound while reading it. Thank you so much.

Not a contemporary but nonetheless a highly modern voice is that of Friedrich Nietzsche, the "posthumous" man who inhabited a world post-God and beyond Good and Evil. His critique of ressentiment — the "self-poisoned mind" of resentment — fits Islam like a glove. For Nietzsche, the repressed emotion of ressentiment leads at length to an entire falsified worldview, a whole revalued code of values, a complete morality based upon sour grapes, vindictiveness, delusions of grandeur and an embittered sense of helpless inferiority. The envied enemy is hated for his superior virtues, which are transformed by the alchemy of ressentiment into objects of loathing.

On some level, this also fits the Clintons like a glove.

One thing I want to say is that muslims have been acting like this because 'we/the west allowed it and encouraged it.'

Every time there was any sort of backlash against muslims or muslim immigration left wingers were screaming racists. Remember the Tampa refugee boat and all the editorials screaming racist from the US papers when the australians didnt want to let boatloads of muslim refugees arrive in Australia.

The islamics were allowed to come to the west and demand seperate schooling etc....And have gotten it. Editorials in western papers have indoctrinated them that they are victims of white christian racism and they believe it. That is the problem.

911 was a turning point. If Haider had won today, noone would have commented. Islamics better face the truth about their religion and beliefs and be told that if they want to live here they better tow the line or out.

The Koran, which he likens to "the Talmud on angel dust," instructs believers living in "infidel" nations to lay low until they reach about 10 percent of the population; then they may attack and disrupt the sinful host society with a better chance of ultimate takeover.

About that 10 percent problem: here's a happy thought from Middle East expert Daniel Pipes:

Islamists constitute a small but significant minority of Muslims, perhaps 10 to 15 per cent of the
population. Many of them are peaceable in appearance, but they all must be considered
    potential killers.

How does 600,000 to 900,000 -- in our country -- potential killers sound?

Many of them are peaceable in appearance...

It's that bad 99% that make the other 1% look bad.

You should be spellbound. This is a well-cobbled hit piece.

One infidel's truth is another Muslim's hit.  Burr of truth under your turban, Jihadi?

The notion that all knowledge is in the Great Text [Koran] is a great disincentive to learning."

Figured the folks on the crevo_list would enjoy the irony in this statement ...

"If it ain't mentioned in Genesis it didn't happen."
