THE NETHERLANDS: TULIPS FOUND TO BE “ENVIRONMENTALLY HARMFUL”

“Tulip plantations take up too much space” and are “environmentally harmful.” These are the assessments made public this week by the Dutch Agricultural Ministry in relation to one of the country’s most notable tourist wonders. At the same time, one may wonder whether or not residential districts and industrial zones, meant to replace the scenic flower fields, will be environmentally safe. The government is planning to move the production of tulips, narcissi, and other celebrated Dutch flowers to more remote areas, such as Anna Pavlovna, Haarlem, Flevoland, Zeeland Flamandia, and West Brabant.

Just put irrational fear of something into the citizenry, and after they've run your competition off the land, buy it for a song and make your money developing the property or just accrue the land for your portfolio. Either way someone wins big here and its not the farmers, nor your average person who must work to put food on the table.

Flower Farms Harm the Environment

It's funny that you won't read the same thing about wheat fields, cornfields, or rice paddies. But something grown for a purpose besides food has got to be pure evil.

To say that tulip plantations are "environmentally harmful" requires some authoratative documentation -- I'm watching -- where is the documentation? -- ?????????
