(15:20) Iraq threatens response to US attack
Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Taher Ramadan Yassin said his country reserves right to respond to any planned US attack.
In the event of an American attack, Iraq would request the intervention of Russia and Europe, Yassin said in an interview broadcast on Qatar-based Al-Jazeera television.
Prime Minister Ariel Sharon said today that Iraq is armed with non-conventional weaponry, despite international efforts to curtail the development of such munitions,
Commenting on reports of an Iraqi attack against Israel in the wake of a possible US strike, Sharon said, "They have the knowledge, ability, and professional teams working at a high level.
"We don't know if they have fissionable material or not ...[but] possibly within a short period of time they may acquire nuclear weaponry."
In a related story, Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Maher urged the United States not to use military force against Iraq or any other Arab country in its campaign against terrorism.
Maher said any punishment of Iraq for defying the UN and not permitting renewed inspection of suspect weapons sites should be meted out in other ways than by military force.

Nuke Baghdad!
Ask the rest of them if they'd like to discuss the fine details of the unconditional surrender. Repeat step one above as needed.

Maybe the War on Terrorism is the justification that the U.S. is promoting for an all out attack on Iraq. Personally, I think it's their continued development of weapons of mas destruction that is the real threat to the middle east as well as to ourselves.

Don't these Arab countries realize that when Saddam finally has nukes, they will be on his target list? If we want long term peace and stability, he needs to be stopped NOW by whatever means are necessary.

Of course. No doubt Sadam is a terrible dictator but he has not been proved guilty of the terrorist attacks as far as I know. So, more arguments for bombing him are needed: he is a Hitler (of course), he has weapons of mass destruction (or is aaallllllmmmmoossst there), if we don't get rid of him now he will be an even bigger threat in the future. Do people realise that by destabilising the Middle East the future will be even more insecure and dangerous than it is now? Or do they seriously believe that they can 'control' a destabilised ME by pushing a few puppets around?

I'd love to hear Saddam's phone call when he asks Putin for help, presumably to take out Turkey and Israel... heh, heh, heh.

hmmm...I thought it was only Iraq that refused to join us and condemm the Taliban and UBL. I understand many nations are doing lip service, I just thought Egypt was one of them. This statement struck me as pretty "off the bus" kind of talk.

I was disgusted with Saudi Arabia and Egypt. In my ignorance, I didn't realize how they felt. Now I am quite willing to pay 2.00 per gallon of gas in order to quite buying anything at all from them.

From
Gallup poll released today: There has been increasing discussion about the possibility of expanding the war on terrorism to include new military action in Iraq. On Monday, President Bush reiterated that the war on terrorism would include any nation that made weapons of mass destruction, and demanded that Iraq let weapons inspectors return. The American public is increasingly supportive of the idea of widening the war to include Iraq. Three-quarters of Americans in the Nov. 26-27 poll favor sending Americans troops back into the Persian Gulf in order to remove Saddam Hussein from power. This is similar to June 1993 responses, but marks a significant increase from last February, when only 52% said that the United States should attempt to remove Saddam Hussein from power.
