(after all his attacks on anti-terrorism legislation) he's probably going to join the DemoncRATs "Attack Ashcroft" bandwagon, too.

The Democrats simply want to prove that they were right and that Ashcroft is a bad man.

Personally, I agree with Dr. Paul, I think that the anti-terrorism bill went too far but Ashcroft does not pass laws, he just enforces them. I blame the caving of Republicans in Congress for that bad bill. I am proud of Ashcroft.

Yes, we can't have any dissent or questioning of Mr. Ashcroft or the PATRIOT US Act farce.

Ron Paul is always a likely suspect to join up with the Democrats. < /sarcasm>

Ashcroft deserves tar and feathers. GOP supporters should be ashamed to give him a pass.

I oppose the anti-terrorist bill, but Ashcroft has done a great job. It is non-citizens that he is after.

"I vas just followink orders."

Ashcroft took an oath to uphold the constitution. The fact that he lobbied for this bill makes him an enemy of the constitution and a liar. He is guilty of malfeasence and should be impeached.

I would love to see you in his shoes. That is assuming that you have a conscience. Knowing that you are responsible for the protection of All Americans after 9/11. Suddenly human lives become a bit more valuable than an extreme view of the constitution.

Say what you will, but we are a WAR, and what Ashcroft is doing is far less than was done during WW2.

Give the guy some #@$#@ing slack for crap sakes.

Criticism is one thing, but blind abandonment and condemnation is childish.

He supposedly was before 911. He took an oath. He is a liar and an enemy of the constitution.

Dude, you're thinking like a slave. The government is NOT responsible for the protection of all Americans -- if anything for the reason that they have shown their complete inability to protect us. You keep on counting on Ashcroft to protect you -- as he keeps chipping away at your freedoms. It's a losing proposition.

I understand why you would cut him slack because he really thinks he is doing the right thing, but I can't do the same. He has the same responsibility as any other citizen or even more to defend the constitution. As far as I can tell, he is just like so many before him, trying to find a way around it in order to make him more effective in his job. In the end, we suffer because of this attitude.

I understand it, but I can't let it go. After all, the oath is to defend it, not work around it. My two cents.

In Houston, 15 or so years ago, there was an AM talk radio station that had (if I remember correctly) a host named Ron Paul. I realize that even if there was it might not be the same person you're talking about. Also, on the show he might've just been playing the devil's advocate, but the guy sounded nutty most days. I'd have pegged him as being VERY liberal. At least that is my recollection.
