Neil Young's tribute to the heroes of Flight 93.
Bay Area legend records "Let's Roll"!
On September 11th, United Flight 93 from Newark to San Francisco was hijacked. A few brave passengers attempted to overtake the hijackers and forced the plane to crash in rural Pennsylvania instead of it's intended target. These men and women were heroes. Be sure to be listening to KFOG all this weekend to hear the emotional new Neil Young song "Let's Roll", his tribute to those heroes. It's another KFOG exclusive.

Appaently old Neil, a Bay Area resident, just completed the song and sent it over to KFOG for airing. It's very well done and they will be playing it again today some time. I'll try to track down the words and a download of the song.

That's not the vibe I get from his music. Why do you say this?

Whoa...Neil Young??? Seriously???
Well, I guess it took 9/11 for us and guys like him to find common ground. Even he doesn't see anything wrong with stopping a hijacking.
Like moi, Young lives alongside the Pacific Coast. The Live Rust version of "Like a Hurricane" is one of my fave tracks. And on top of that, he's a Sharks fan, too!

Some people exude a negative conotation of Niel Young. I have always loved much of his music and will continue to.
Can you say Cinnamon Girl?
His best material was when he was with Crazy Horse.

I was thinking Thunder Bay.

His best material was when he was with Crazy Horse. He's been around a long time, starting with Buffalo Springfield (when he was in his teens), and has an astounding body of work. My personal favorite song of his is "After the Gold Rush."

Did you know he wrote that song on his 19th birthday?
I also listened to him when he was with BS. I loved his 'Cortez The Killer', and 'Down By The River'.

Bay area legend Neil Young (Canadian) - HUDSON BAY? Canadian by birth, Northern Californian by choice.

Whoa...Neil Young??? Seriously??? Well, I guess it took 9/11 for us and guys like him to find common ground. Neil's always been rather vague about his politics, but he seems rather libertarian to me. This is the first war I've supported in my lifetime, and perhaps he has a similar distrust for central authoritarianism.

Neil was a vocal supporter of Reagan in the '80's..quite true, too.He got a lot of ribbing from his rock star pals over it.He's not a monolithic musician.

The Live Rust version of "Like a Hurricane" is one of my fave tracks. I was in the Cow Palace (SF) the night they recorded that one. Fun night.
Neil did rip into a DJ in an on-air interview in the 80s when the guy make a crack about Ronald Reagan. The guy was pretty take aback - didn't know Neil was a Reagan supporter.

bump hoping for an audio link ... was overseas during "Live Rust", sad to say. One of my favorite albums.
