By Franklin Graham. Mr. Graham is president of the international relief organization Samaritan's Purse and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
Some of my recent statements, interpreted as critical of Islam, have been widely reported. I believe I've been greatly misunderstood, and I'd like to paint a more complete picture.

The persecution or elimination of non-Muslims has been a cornerstone of Islamic conquests and rule for centuries.

"And you love these people. I sure as hell don't."It is one thing to love them as people created in God's image--I sure as heaven do. It is quite another to approve of their evil actions--I sure as heaven don't.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with a little righteous hatred.

This is a very ambiguous (sp?) piece. Sounds like it was written by a politician; i.e., "we're not at war with Islam...although Islamic teaching is the problem." Sounds like Graham is trying to backpedal from his earlier condemnation of Islam a few weeks ago. Also his claims of humanitarian assistance to Bosnian and Kosovar muslims is an indicater of "schizophrenic disfunction" comparable with that of the US government; i.e., providing aid to the very partys responsible for the mass murder and ethnic cleansing of 100's of thousands of Orthodox Christians, Jews and Roma in the Balkans. I suppose giving humanitarian aid to those who are persecuting your fellow Christians falls under the heading of "love thy enemy." Did the deciples of Christ provide aid and comfort to the Romans who crucified and martyred early Christians?
To: Hebrews 11:6
The Bible clearly states God hates certain, evil people, like bloodthirsty and deceitful men (Islamic butchers, for example). The proper Biblical view is that one can both love and hate the same person. Love them enough to hope they repent, but hate them if they are evil.

I just re read Grahams earlier statement on Islam back around 11/16/01. He is clearly trying to "crawfish" away from his earlier statement with this present "BS". He was closer to the truth the first time.

Did the deciples of Christ provide aid and comfort to the Romans who crucified and martyred early Christians? But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. (Luke 6:35)
This quote from Christ gives me the feeling that they may have done so. ;)

Oh man, I just found a better quote from Christ:But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other also. If someone takes your cloak, do not stop him from taking your tunic. Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. Do to others as you would have them do to you. (Luke 6:27-31)
He just goes on and on with this kind of stuff. ;) I guess it's obvious why people wanted to kill him.

In Indonesia, the United Nations and church officials claim thousands of heavily armed Muslim fighters are preparing to attack more than 60,000 Christian villagers on the island of Sulawesi
Christians in the lakeside town of Tentena are reported to be preparing for a big Muslim attack
Already thousands of Christians from nearby villages have fled to the town in Central Sulawesi trying to escape armed Muslim fighters, members of the radical Laskar Jihad, who are reported to be equipped with machine guns, rocket launchers and even bulldozers
A church group which travelled to Tentena last week reports Laskar Jihad manned road blocks, flying flags with the image of Osama bin Laden and the words 'this is our leader'
Some Laskar Jihad commanders have been trained in Afghanistan and Pakistan
A United Nations team sent to central Sulawesi last week claims there are 7,000 Jihad fighters in the region and that both sides, Christian and Muslim are ready to fight.
Would you like to think again.... and I don't see any muslims coming out and disagreeing with what they are doing.........they know it's wrong but they say nothing
May God protect these Christians

Your a fool Whoa! Don't hold back, okay? ;)
Kool color!
Paul says, in Corinthians, that "we are fools for Christ's sake". I'm a fool in any case. I wish I had the guts to really be a fool for Christ's sake.

As it was for the Christian Church when it was as young as Islam, and it was for the Jews when they were as young as the Muslims. I guess we'll have to wait another four or five hundred years for Islam to join the other major religions in promoting peace. It might be a rough few centuries.

"I do not believe Muslims are evil people because of their faith. I personally have many Muslim friends. But I decry the evil that has been done in the name of Islam, or any other faith -- including Christianity. I agree with President Bush that as a country we are at war with terrorists, not with Islam. But as a minister, not a politician, I believe it is my responsibility to speak out against the terrible deeds that are committed as a result of Islamic teaching."
To: kimosabe31
I disagree that Mr. Graham is ambiguous. This is classic, "love the sinner hate the sin." Also, he refers to any belief system that gets out of control being wrong. The techings of Islam are, for the most part, out of control and present a danger to the world in general and Christians in particular. Mr. Graham is very courageous for his stand and I support him 100%.

He seems to be backing down from his previous statements. At one time he said" Islam has declared war on us".
To: classygreeneyedblonde
If this is not a religious war rather than Islam vs the "great satan" (i.e., US), why then are the bin laden jihadists massacreing Indonesian Christians and blowing up Christian hospitals in Somalia?? These that are being targeted are not responsible for the mostly "stupid" global commercialization of the US business interests. Islam is about destroying Christianity.

I hardly think that the "age" of Islam is any excuse for the savagery and barberism which they are disposed to inflict on their helpless victims.
