BETHLEHEM, West Bank, Dec 3 (Reuters) - Israeli helicopter gunships fired at least one missile at a building in the Palestinian-ruled West Bank city of Bethlehem on Monday, witnesses said.

They said the building was badly damaged and at least three people were hurt.

Israel also launched missile attacks on Gaza City and the West Bank city of Jenin on Monday following a wave of Palestinian suicide attacks in Israel over the weekend which killed at least 25 people and wounded about 200.

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - An Israeli political source said Monday that a series of Israeli missile strikes at Palestinian targets was only the start of the response to a wave of Palestinian suicide bombings that killed 25 people.

"It's only the beginning, there will be more serious things to come," the source told Reuters.

"There is a collection of recommendations that will be brought to the cabinet tonight for approval," the source said, adding the measures had already been vetted by top Israeli officials at a meeting with Prime Minister Ariel Sharon earlier Monday.

Israeli helicopter gunships fired at Palestinian President Yasser Arafat's helicopter compound in the Gaza Strip, followed by a warplane attack on a police headquarters in Palestinian-ruled Jenin and a helicopter attack on Bethlehem, both in the West Bank.
