CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Rev. Franklin Graham, responding to criticism of his comments about Islam, said he doesn't believe Muslims are "evil people" but laments evil done in the religion's name.
Graham, the son of evangelist Billy Graham, was criticized by several groups for saying earlier that Islam "is a very evil and wicked religion."
In a column in The Wall Street Journal, Graham said he had been "greatly misunderstood" and wanted to create "a more complete picture" of his views.

His organization does great work and I respect him and his father, so it hurts to say that I'm disappointed in him. If he is a Christian trying to evangelize - he should be in the very least continuing to preach that the only way to salvation is through Jesus. That message doesn't require an opinion on Islam or any other faith.

Hooper said his organization hadn't heard from Graham about a meeting the group requested, but hoped they could talk to him. "This is why he needs to meet with Muslims so he can get real, objective, accurate information." "Real", "Accurate", "Objective" information? Can Graham not read? Can we not also read. The Quran DOES say this and it DOES advocat it and the history of Mohammad IS alive with evidence of his murdering because people would not convert. The "Religion of the Sword" is what it has often been called.
I have no doubts that many in ISlam are as ignorant to this as many calling themselves Christians are ignorant as to the teachings behind their denomination. This is why I am a only a Born Again Christian. I am NOT a Southern Baptist, and Independant Baptist, a Presbyterian or ANY other denomination.
The faith that is behind Mohammad is not what I would call a good one.

That message doesn't require an opinion on Islam or any other faith. We are called to call evil what it is. I would not be so quick to be disappointed in him for doing exactly that. Are we supposed to say nice things about a bad thing? Am I supposed to softly dance around and only in a veiled way call abortion a bad thing? No. It is wrong. Period dot. I dont have to be gruff and harsh, but I can be direct. There is a difference.

Oh, for crying out loud! Franklin Graham's pulling a Falwell.
Sigh.
Why can't the man stand by what he said, being that every word he said was true? (That includes his comments that it's a "very evil and wicked religion" -- not that they're in worse shape when they die than any other pagan or atheist.)

the only way to salvation is through Jesus Show me any statement Franklin Graham has made that contradicts this.

I had access to Naked News during the Cole bombing.
I don't know what I'm supposed to be thinking when I'm watching a naked woman tell me about a national tragedy.
If the news is humors or popular, having naked women (and now men) reading the news can be amusing.
However, when it's deadly serious, I don't understand what value naked news has.

Evil people are evil, doesn't have anything to do with ones religion. Some say if a Christian is evil, he's not a real Christian. If a Muslim is evil, then he must not be a real Muslim.

Ibrahim Hooper may as well get used to it. The cat's out of the bag and muslims in the US can stand up and very loudly, unanimously and publicly condemn jihad or they will suffer the consequences.
The US is not an islamic nation and is not going to be. The people promoting this gutter "religion" need to go back to the hellhole they came from unless they're simply tired of life.

Are you on the right thread?

nope

He does continue to preach that the only way to salvation is through Jesus Christ. This AP schlock piece carefully sidesteps what he said to the WSJ columnist who wrote the piece referred to here.
Raeford read the entire text of the column on the air yesterday during the Big Show.

I wish I had the ability to post the Franklin Graham article from Monday's Wall Stree Journal. I have read in in full. For another publication to select parts of it to publish is BS. As far as I am concerned, he expanded upon his prior comments in this article, and he made it quite clear as to his position on Islam. It was a well written article.

He does stand by his convictions. Read the WSJ piece. Why do you think Hooper is ready to wet the diaper wrapped around his head? ;-)

A Billy Graham he aint !

Yes, I heard the article read in its entirety on a radio program Monday. It was delightful to hear the way Graham made the proper corrections and then reiterated what he had said earlier. He didn't back down at all. This AP hack is trying to make it sound as though Graham backed down. Shame on him, not on Franklin Graham.

"he also wrote in Monday's column that "the persecution or elimination of non-Muslims has been a cornerstone of Islamic conquests and rule for centuries." The Quran, he wrote, "provides ample evidence that Islam encourages violence in order to win converts and to reach the ultimate goal of an Islamic world."
A big Franklin Graham BUMP!
His WSJ article was very good.

The Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations said Graham's latest remarks didn't improve the situation. I challenge anyone to provide convincing evidence that CAIR has done anything whatsoever to "improve the situation". I would not at all be surprised to see them get their funds frozen as terrorist supporters before it's over.
I'd sure like to see that WSJ article. I'll search FR and post a link here to there, if there exists.
