Thanks for the updated post.

Here's the link to the other Goldberg articles and bestseller discussion.

Interesting comments about Drudge used his headline to get a cut of the book sales. Not sure if that's confirmed or even if it would be unethical for an "Internet reporter" to pump a book for cash.

My local rag long ago gave up the NYT Best Sellers list to avoid having to print Rush Limbaugh's name every week.

NBC's Today Show and website do the very same thing.

Ordered mine from booksamillion.com the other day and it has already been shipped. Bought it for no other reason than to annoy the media.

Ordered mine from Buy.com - best price, free shipping, no sales tax. Amazon's numbers would be even higher if not for all the better-priced online alternatives.

Phil,

The Noonan book should be on our list because she is an excellent writer. O'Reilly should be on as a "professional courtesy." When are you going to write your book?

Great interview last night on Hannity and Snake-Eyes on Fox News Channel. Snake-Eyes was wetting his pants trying to catch Golden Boy with some of the criticisms of his "fellow journalists." Goldberg listened to one criticism written as if Goldberg and the author were close friends (I think it was Bill Plant)and said, "That's very interesting. Especially since I haven't seen or spoken to him but one time in the past ten years."

Hannity had all he could do to sit quietly and watch Snake-Eyes make a fool of himself and the members of the media that offered criticisms. It was a lot like watching your backseat-driver-mother-in-law trying to parallel park an SUV.

Best line of the night was when Goldberg said, "If you notice most of the quotes you have are from 'unnamed sources' Alan. When you see something from me, I put my name to it like I did in the New York Times editorial. No one has to wonder who wrote it or said it. And people in the media know what is the truth and the real truth is they have been hemorrhaging viewers at an alarming rate for many years now."

Phil,

In keeping with our purpose to offer people some items of permanent worth, the John Adams book should be included, too.

Oprah Edition? What, it's large print?

And with lots of pictures.

And with a little diary section at the end of each chapter so you can express your feelings.

GMA, Today and whater the CBS morning show happens to be now - they all use these morning show featuring "journalists" (who interview heads of state, etc.) such as Sawyer, Gumbel and Couric to hawk their network shows and affiliated profit-making ventures such as movies, records and books.

While it used to be taboo that has long since not been the case. Those morning show are basically two-hour commercials for the mega-corp that owns the network. Good for Drudge - if he did get some $$$$ - no one expects such "integrity" from a journalist anymore. It is only immoral if you are being deceptive. Few people anymore think newsmen lack private motives.

Also with various co-ordinating dust jackets to complement whichever room you happen to be sitting in at the time.
