USO Canteen Freeper Style
War has come to our shores. It was committed on American soil. We have been able to live in Freedom only because of those who have fought in the past wars giving life, limb and all the sacrifices for us to live in Freedom and go about our day without fear.
On September 11, 2001, that comfort, that feeling of living in a land that would not be attacked ended.
William T. Sherman said it succinctly, "War is hell."
The day has come for this Nation and its people to understand that there is a risk in losing its freedom, and in reality there always has been. We have ONLY stayed free because of the sacrifices of our military, our warriors.
This is about saving the future of America. Aristotle said, "We make war that we may live in peace."

We are seeing the American Flag flying at homes now more than ever in my lifetime. We are seeing the American Flag flying on vehicles and people wearing Flag pins and small Flags on their clothes. America is united in the cause for Freedom and for our country to WIN against the evil that came upon our land to kill and hurt us. To change our way of life and to destroy America which is US, you and me. To take away our precious Freedom.
This is the Freeper version of the USO Canteen. Where soldiers could come and feel a small part of being at home. It is a place where you that have family in the military can post a thought to a loved one that might be able to read it far away from home. A place where we that support our military can help support them, post to them, fun graphics showing the price in America and our troops. Poems, quotes, cartoons, or articles of how America is behind our troops.
Those in our military are our Nation's warriors. Let us join hands, fly our Flag and let the world know how important our warriors are to us....And that our MILITARY, our Warriors, are America's TRUE HEROS!
"No Marine was ever honored for what they received. Honor was the reward for what they gave." (Anonymous) CHIEF gave his all in many ways. He touched our lives and his friendship meant so much to all of us. He will live in our hearts forever, and his friendship will always be a bright and shining memory in our hearts and souls.

To Honor the survivors and their families and friends who died during the attack on that Sunday morning December 7, 1941.
Lest We Forget !

Shortly after the attack on December 7, 1941 and America's entry in to the war, one of the first and the most classic World War Two patriotic songs was written by Don Reid and music by Reid and Sammy Kaye.
The words and music first appeared in the San Francisco Examiner newspaper, on January 11, 1942.

The song, "Remember Pearl Harbor"; described as a "March with spirit", was based on the popular saying of the day and became an instant hit with the public. It was played by every radio station and enthusiasticaly sung at every social, family and religious gatherings across the country.
"Remember Pearl Harbor", the song and the saying, went in to history as the quintessential slogan and battle cry of World War II.
History - in every century,
records an act that lives forevermore.
We'll recall - as in to line we fall,
the thing that happened on Hawaii's shore.
Let's REMEMBER PEARL HARBOR -
As we go to meet the foe -
Let's REMEMBER PEARL HARBOR
As we did the Alamo.
We will always remember -
how they died for liberty,
Let's REMEMBER PEARL HARBOR
and go on to victory.
Another tremendously popular song at the times was; "Praise The Lord and Pass the Ammunition". This song, written by Frank Loesser, was base on an remark allegedly made by a chaplain; who, during the attack, while assisting military personnel in attempting to shoot at the attacking aircraft with machine guns was asked to say a prayer for the men at their battle stations.

Beliaev is a freelance artist based in Turku, Finland, and McCarter is a freelancer living in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The two have never met in person. "First Strike at Pearl" was accomplished through email correspondence
The artists created the image using POV-Ray 3.1 for rendering, as well as 3Dem (for converting DEMs to bitmaps), Rhino (airplane models; ship hulls), ColorPicker (precision color selections), Photoshop (image maps; converting image to JPEG), Paint Shop Pro (image maps), and GeoCities (sharing files). The rendering took 59 hours.
After making concept sketches and some simple POV-Ray scenes to evaluate potential viewpoints and compositions, a detailed and accurate map of the Pearl Harbor area (including the ships) was used as a height field in a POV-Ray scene. This technique allowed the artists to use trial camera positions around the harbor before they began modeling.
All objects were created specifically for this scene. Terrain was adapted from USGS DEM (Digital Elevation Models) satellite and aerial imagery. Ships and aircraft were modeled from plans and photographs of the actual crafts involved in the attack. Ships' logs and eyewitness accounts were consulted to verify the sequence of events. Even the sunlight, wind, and aircraft directions are depicted as accurately as possible.

Thank you John, yes it is a sad day.
My Uncles all served this country and the one that was stationed at Pearl Harbor was there that morning. My aunt was staying there too and she saw out of her bedroom window a plane fly by so close she could see the face of one of the men bombing Pearl Harbor.
