Man appeals fine for rejecting 'gay' client

A Christian entrepreneur completed his appeal to a Toronto court yesterday to overturn a $5,000 fine for refusing to do business with a homosexual organization.

Scott Brockie, owner of a Toronto printing company, insists that he rejected a request by the Canadian Gay and Lesbian Archives in 1996 to print promotional materials for the group because it conflicted with his Christian beliefs.

A ruling on Brockie's appeal by the Ontario Divisional Court will be made in a few months.

On Feb. 24, 2000, the Ontario Human Rights Commission found Brockie guilty of discriminating against homosexuals, according to its code. A board of inquiry appointed under the Ontario Human Rights Code ordered Brockie to pay damages, although it accepted that his beliefs were sincerely held.

The board contended that "it is reasonable to limit Brockie's freedom of religion in order to prevent the very real harm to members of the lesbian and gay community." The board added that "Brockie remains free to hold his religious belief and practice them in his home and in his Christian community."

The Canadian Lesbian and Gay Archives is a Toronto-based public advocacy group that serves as a clearinghouse of information about homosexuals and their role in society.

Brockie has the support of the Canadian Civil Liberties Association and a coalition of several Christian groups. The Canadian Religious Freedom Alliance, comprised of the Catholic Civil Rights League, the Christian Legal Fellowship and the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada, intervened for Brockie in court this week.

The alliance argued that people in business are not obligated to offer their services to a cause they cannot endorse, particularly for religious reasons. Brockie has clients who are gay, according to his supporters, but is unwilling to participate in homosexual activism.

A panel of three judges "questioned both sides hard, so it's not all clear what the outcome will be," said Janet Epp Buckingham, legal counsel for the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada. "Our lawyer indicated it is impossible to call."

The board contended that "it is reasonable to limit Brockie's freedom of religion in order to prevent the very real harm to members of the lesbian and gay community."

Then the lesbian and gay community can hold a raffle to purchase their own printing press and hire the skilled tradesman to operate it.

The board added that "Brockie remains free to hold his religious belief and practice them in his home and in his Christian community."

I think I'm gonna hurl.

This is a clear case where the real rebels are the ones operating the government. Therefore, resistance to this tryanny is mandated. Canadians need to start behaving like citizens instead of subjects.

If a racist organization wanted Brockie to print brochures promoting racism and he refused would he receive the same sort of treatment? Perhaps this is a simplistic comparison but basically the same principal is involved. I suspect that Brockie was purposely targetted by the Canadian Gay and Lesbian Archives because they KNEW he would refuse and they're out to show how "bigotted" Christians are.

I suspect that Brockie was purposely targetted...

Hmmm -- Lets see: The Canadian Gay and Lesbian Archives approached the born again Christian printer to produce their stationery. A quick yellow page search of Toronto lists 100 other business in that community providing this basic service. Mr. Brockie did absolutely no harm to this weasly bunch of gay thugs.

See the following article:

BORN - AGAIN PRINTER CLASHES WITH HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION

Earlier this year, a board of inquiry ruled that printer Scott Brockie, a born-again Christian, violated the Ontario Human Rights Code when he refused to print the stationery of the Canadian Gay and Lesbian Archives. The printer was fined $5000 and ordered to provide services to gay and lesbian organizations.

Brockie has appealed and CCLA will seek intervener status in the case. "It would have been perfectly appropriate - indeed, desirable - for human rights authorities to target a printer who refused to provide stationery for a dentist who happens to be gay", says CCLA's Chair John McCamus, "but requiring a printer to serve a gay organization and its ideology infringes freedom of conscience."

The homosexualists are like the Islamists.  They must have their way -- period.  Evidence the fact that two of the world's greatest organizations, the Boy Scouts of America and the Salvation Army are both under attack by them.  If ever there were two more decent, moral, peaceable, beneficial organizations on planet earth, I can't name them.  But, since they have a moral code to uphold, the homosexualists must destroy them -- just like the Christian printer in this article.

Tell me, if anyone can, is there a single gay-related community service organization that renders benefits that aren't gay-sex or AIDS oriented?  Are there gay-organization tree plantings or nature trail improvement projects?  How many bums have gotten free beans and clothes from GLAAD, GLSEN, PFLAG or Lambda?  Didn't think so.

"Please, I hope nobody is offended by my posts...."

It's time to go on the offense. Don't worry about being offended. The only ones who will be offended are the wicked, and so what if they are. It means your doing something right.

I see it this way: It will take time, but sooner or later, with their near-total abandon of "safe sex" principles, they will sodomize themselves into oblivion.

As far as I'm concerned, the sooner the better.
