MEDIA BIAS WATCH: Check out these two captions from the AP and Reuters for the same photograph.
The AP caption:
A group of Hamas suicide bombers, with fake dynamite strapped around their chests, parade at the el-Hilweh refugee camp near the southern Lebanese city of Sidon on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001, during an anti-Israel demonstration organized by Hamas to mark the 14th anniversary of its founding. The group said they hoped to join their Hamas colleagues in Palestinian areas to carry out suicide attacks against Israel.
The Reuters caption: Members of Hamas pray during a rally held at Ain al-Hilweh refugee camp near the port-city of Sidon in south Lebanon, December 9, 2001. Palestinians poured into the streets in Lebanon on Sunday to mark the14th anniversary of the founding of the militant Palestinian Islamist group Hamas.
No wonder they cant bring themselves to use the word terrorist. Here is the photo:

"Terrorist" is a subjective label; news organizations like Rueters and the AP are obligated to remain as objective as possible. That's why you rarely see the words "good" or "bad" in captions. Thank you.

How old does that guy in front seem to be? Its a little hard to judge from the picture but he(?) seems to be small and his hands seem to be quite small.

One that engages in acts or an act of terrorism. Look at the picture again. The mock bombs strapped to their chests should make even the most ardent caption writer at least THINK of the word "terrorist".

You're right, but it's irrelevant. There have been lots of children participating in these pro-suicide rallys. I posted a link to some of them above.

So who took that picture? And if these guys participate in suicide bombings and kill people, shouldn't that photographer be an accessory to murder? Shouldn't he be turned over to the Israelis and be tried if he didn't provide information on their whereabouts?

If you click on the links it gives you the names of the photographers. They are just doing their job and aren't culpable in this case. I think the AP caption is accurate and good journalism. It's the editors who write the captions and not the photographers.
I would feel differently if a photographer witnessed a suicide bomber on the way to his mission and didn't alert the authorities.
The masks protect the terrorist's faces so they can't be apprehended. I wouldn't recommend any journalist pulling the mask off and then snapping the pix!

I wonder what is written on those green bandanas? Perhaps "Insert Bullet Here"

I didn't realize AP was that reliable, I had hoped so. Reuters is just a propaganda machine for the terrorist organization Hamas if it can report that these goons are "praying." Perhaps Reuters' editors have never prayed so they don't know what it really looks like.

This photo also appears on the front page of the Washington Times this morning. The caption reads:
Ready to Die: At an anti-Israel demonstration commemorating Hamas' 14th anniversary yesterday, suicide bombers with fake dynamite strapped to their chests paraded near the southern Lebanese city of Sidon.
The WT tells it like it is.

The photo was taken in the employee lounge at Reuters.
