The EU payment of around $160 million a year to the Palestinian Authority was helping support a "corrupt regime" that would never deliver peace, said Richard Perle, the head of the Pentagon defense policy board.
Mr. Perle, upon whom President Bush has lavished praise in recent weeks, called on the European Union to abandon its support for Mr. Arafat in the wake of the latest terrorist outrages in Israel.

Mr. Straw is a rather foolish critter, so of course he acts in a foolish manner. He has quite a record for that.
Bingo. This is very much overlooked, but the fact is that PLO always was marxist, and so is the whole Palestinian apparatus. Of course, the marxist stuff blends very well over into the islamist agenda too.
Oh, that can't possibly be true. Look at all the support they have here in FR from the "America First" crowd.
Kinda ironic, isn't it? When the PLO gained acceptance in Europe, their supporters were the same people who were busy killing America over the Vietnam war. Their road to acceptance in America wasn't much different. And now their antisemitic little friends finds it useful to cloak themselves in the flag.
Yeah well Pat Buchanan brought the ultra-Lefty Lenora Fulloony on his ticket. They had a few things in common, mostly a rabid dislike of Israel.
