WASHINGTON (AP) -- Federal authorities charged a California bus company operating in the southwest with illegally transporting tens of thousands of undocumented aliens smuggled across the U.S.-Mexico border, Attorney General John Ashcroft said Monday.
Golden State Transportation, based in Los Angeles, worked with migrant smugglers who bought large blocks of bus tickets for immigrants to travel from staging areas along the border inside the United States to cities in California, Arizona, Colorado, Texas, New Mexico, Nevada, and Washington state, Ashcroft said.

300 a day X 356= 106,800 migrants smuggled X $80 each = $8,544,000
50 a day X 356= 17,800 migrants smuggled X $80 each = $1,424,000
The company typically would charge smugglers $80 per person between Tucson and Los Angeles, the indictment said
So smugglers paid between $1.4mil and $8.5mil to the bus company
<>What did the migrants pay to the smugglers, then?
<>What did the businesses pay to the smugglers for delivering the cheap labor to them?
Would be interesting to see these figures.
New tongue twister: What do the smuggled migrants who the smugglers smuggled in smuggle in with them?
I often eat at a nearby truckstop here near Burlington, North Carolina. Yet near-none of the passengers on the many Greyhound buses stopping for restroom/snack breaks for passengers and drivers alike - even buses headed for Texas, even borderland places like Laredo - look Hispanic.
Greyhound evidently created or bought this subsidiary to protect both its own employees from such an indictment and to protect its buses and terminals from the asset forfeiture pending against this subsidiary in the "coyote" business - while still profiting immensely from intentionally running illegal aliens.

No, Mr. Att. Gen., the charges, alone, don't prove anything. Rounding up all those illegals, sending them back and militarizing the border, so it doesn't happen again, would.
The smuggled migrants who the smugglers smuggle in smugly smuggle snuggies. Some smuggled migrants suffer migraines. Same for some smugglers.
Of course it did.
I hope Ashcroft can deal with the real problem -- It's time to clean house at the INS -- it's getting a wee bit dirty...
First clue.
