Seven [black] George Washington High students were taken into custody today in connection with the brutal beating yesterday afternoon of a [white] senior inside the Northeast Philadelphia school.
Kathy Gremo said her son was in intensive care at Frankford Hospital this afternoon. The teen suffered a concussion and a blood clot on the brain as a result of the attack and was operated on, she said.
"He was on his way to the lunch room and eight or so black kids jumped on him and beat him," Gremo said of her son, who is white. She said the attack appeared to be racial.
However, Dexter Green, the district's chief safety executive, said he had no evidence that the attack was racially motivated. All seven males arrested were black.
"There was no obvious motive," Green said.
The attack follows two other similar, less serious incidents at the school in the last two weeks, Green said. One of the other victims was African American, he said.
Principal Sam Karlin, Green and other officials were meeting this afternoon to establish a task force to look into safety issues at the school.
"We’ll be bringing in as much help as is necessary," said Karlin, who was preparing a letter to parents.
Karlin declined to say whether the district would pursue expulsion of the seven students, noting that the investigation had not been completed. But he said appropriate discipline "as far as we can take it" will be meted out.
Miriam Foltz, vice president of Washington's Home and School Association, met with school officials yesterday and said she was told the seven students involved in the incident would not be allowed to return to the school pending a hearing.
"They're out. That's the important thing," she said. "My daughter's in there right now and if I didn't believe them, I would have pulled her out of school."
Last January, the school was the scene of two racially charged fights. Only black male students were arrested in the incidents, which drew complaints from the NAACP. Charges against three black males were later dropped after District Attorney Lynne M. Abraham investigated.
Translation: "Because of NAACP complaints, there was a 'hands off' policy regarding black students".

Black students constantly harassed whites. black students would often cut in line at the lunch counter. They would throw things at whites, walk up to them and hit them for no reason, rob them after school etc.
Sometimes a white person would fight back, when they did usually several other blacks would jump in helping the perpetrator. The whites usually didn't jump in to help because they were too scared.
It would not surprise me a bit if this was not the case in most of the integrated schools across the nation.

So perhaps the principal was right. These perps may not have been racially motivated, they might just be thugs. Regardless of motive, they should be facing some time in lockup.
The solution to blacks screaming "racism" every time a perp is white and a victim is black, is not necessarily to have whites screaming "racism" every time the victim is white and the perps are black.
