God that is sad. It must have been a nightmare in that house. Both wife and dog waiting for him to come home. Neither could take it. Very sad.

"Joe was her life, her heart, her soul - she kept saying she couldn't survive without him."

I think only those that have truly found the "best friend in life" can relate to this. This poor lady had half of her very being ripped from her. I am positive that she and her husband have become whole once again.

The holidays are such a hard time for those who are grieving; and when they coincide with an "anniversary" of a tragedy, it makes is especially hard. The incredible blow of the loss of her spouse, followed by the loss of her beloved pet (which may have been like a child to her) may have indeed felt like the end of the world to her. If only she could have known that someday she would have an moment that wasn't consumed by grief, to be followed by an hour of contentment, to be followed someday waking up to joy again! But when the first pain comes, many cannot know that someday they WILL be happy again. And they will, if only they can hang on one more day.

I believe God forgives and blesses those who, in stupendous grief, forget their importance to those who love them in this world. But if you are one who grieves, you should know you are not alone - and there is a God who knows your suffering, and grieves for you...

She had nothing left to live for. Bless her. I think you're right. She's with her husband.

Sending up prayers for their family and friends...this breaks my heart but it makes me even angrier at the little pieces of scum that we face every Friday night who are "united against war".. my only consolation is that I know for a fact that God does not forget. Their deeds will come back to bite them in the ass in a big way.

I can relate to this in spades. I went thru it myself several years ago. But I'm OK now (thank G-d and Him alone). I will probably never be whole again, but I am still alive and kicking.

Question: Which one of these will make Reuters and the news agencies? Innocent Afghan killed by food drop, or devastated WTC Widow takes own life?

This is indeed very sad. However I think suicide is the absolute worst thing you can do to those who love you. It's the chicken way out and I have little sympathy for those who take this course of action. She is free of her suffering (on this earth, anyway) but has left her family and friends here to suffer for years to come.

Hardly. If experience with others suffering tragedies is any indication, in less than a year she may have no longer wanted to kill herself and in the meantime there are treatments that could have partially eased her anguish. I fail to see how this was a rational decision. She was insane with depression. I only hope if someone I care about suffers a similar mental illness, interventions to save him/her will be more successful.

And in honor of you and your unbelievable position, I hope they blast the family of one of Osama's henchmen into oblivion today. You obviously have never been loved by someone, or loved someone in the manner this victim of the terrorist trash loved and was loved. I have that relationship with my dear wife, my maternal grandparents had that relationship. I offered up a prayer for this dear person, her husband, and their dog when I first read this. I hope you find a soul someday.

You will be whole again in time. We are glad that you're alive and kicking. Hang in there Belle.

I read this post and the comments and I am touched and saddened by the grief this woman had to endure. I am also a little bit angry too, because before this thread I read the thread concerning Hillary and Ol' Crusty. Hillary states that there was no one sicker than she on September 11. I suppose this woman's grief does not compare or match's Hillary's. I shall pray for this woman's soul. I will also pray that God lift the blinders from people and let them see how truly evil Hillary and Bill are.
