WEYMOUTH: What happened during your meeting with President Bush last week? SHARON: I must praise the president. I had a very good meeting and an important one with him. I expressed my admiration for his leadership in conducting the war against world terror. I was impressed by his detailed knowledge of what is happening in Afghanistan... I felt the deep friendship between the president and Israel, and it was very touching. I started with how I see the future. I laid out my plan of how to lead an agreement that will lead to peace.

There can be no peace with Islam, it sounds terrible, but as long as a religion of conquest is allowed uncontested areas to grow in, terrorism will continue to expand. Stop them now before weapons of mass destruction are used against the non-Islamic peoples.

I have no problem with a Palestinian state. They can have 10,000 square miles in the horn of Africa any time they want it.

Wouldn't a genuine reporter have asked Sharon what Israeli provocations would have to cease for genuine negotiation to resume? You mean the provocation of defending themselves from lunatics who hide behind their own women and children to shoot at unarmed civilians? And by the way, what do you mean "resume" genuine negotiatins? When have there ever been "genuine" negotiations, rather than desperate efforts by appeasing Israelis to get arabs to stop -- for one lousy week! -- murdering innocent civilians? Your team can't stop murdering innocents for one week. What other country in the world would you demand should sit still for that?
Can an honest journalist conduct an interview with an Israeli PM about the conflict with the Palestinians without once using the words "OCCUPATION" or "SETTLEMENTS"?
Absolutely. If the constant murder of innocents is in the news it tend to swamp other stories.

Don't you think your title for this Newsweek puff piece is a bit dishonest (as per your style)? -Bold Fenian
I know you want to smear veronica, and will go at any lengths to do so, but she didn't post this article. Furthermore, if you click on the link to MSNBC, it is the proper title with the phrase in quotes being the sub-title.
I guess she shouldn't hold her breath waiting for an apology from you.

I am 73 years old. I am not waiting for another political post. I have one ambition: to try and reach a political settlement that will lead to peace with the Palestinians. I have seen the wars, the battles, the agony. I would like to reach an agreement. I am ready to dedicate several years to that. The whole interview speaks for itself. Very impressive.

Sharon said in an interview last year that a man who has seen war is not quick to start one. Seems Sharon is trying real hard not to swat the gnat Arafat. Arafat is trying real hard to get swatted. Arafat is paid big time to start this war, seems he has not been delivering to the Arab League like promised.
This latest move by Sharon is brilliant. By de-legitmatizing Arafat his opposition gains strength. The Jews will not need to dismantle the PA, the Palestinians will do that themselves. Weaken the PA enough and Arafat will be overthrown. He recently began shifting from incitement videos to "Arafat is a great guy" garbage on PA TV. This shows he is scared. Note also that Arafat is no longer broadcasting on PA radio. Seems the Jews took the Antenna farm out today. Awwww... As his propaganda channels are removed it really weakens his hold. The intifadda has brought nothing bu misery to the Palestinians. They are not liking Arafat much these days. So between the Arab League and his own people is a rock and a hard place for ole slimy.
