Maria Glod and Josh White

Washington Post

Friday, December 14, 2001 The three young friends accused of killing a respected Loudoun County scientist were fascinated with fantasy worlds, witchcraft and the occult, and the slaying had overtones of their fixation...

At least one was involved in a self-described coven and dabbled in self-mutilation and drinking blood, those who know him said. The trio's curiosities turned deadly Saturday when they carried out "a planned assassination" using a two-foot sword...

Pray for America

Sure. But it's a bit too late, don't you think? 40 years ago, maybe, but at this point, it's a done deal.

You win honors for being the first to mention the debacle at Waco, Texas.

Can we get an Elian mention, anyone?

A little black book of certified wackos would be quite useful in some quarters.

Excellent. Now: Please work in Dungeons and Dragons, Ruby Ridge, Saturday Night Specials, Allen Greenspan, and the Trilateralist Commission, and we'll have it all wrapped up with a pretty bow.

Sorry, but THIS is why I believe that no one should consider "Wicca" a religion. It is at best a unorganized group of randomly picked folk traditions, all of which can be found under the banner of other established religions. It has not even existed as an "organized" religion for more than a twenty years - and during that time it has existed primarily to sell "ritual objects" to it's deluded followers. It doesn't deserve to be considered peer with the world's great religions, all of which have existed for at least HUNDREDS of years - Hindu, Judaism, Christianity, Buddhism, Islam. So why is it that we have "Wiccan" clerics and "Wiccan" ceremonies in official government capacities? It is a slap in the face to followers of all the world's religions.

Don't even get me started on the Christian conflict with this, it would take all day and I have to cut my three-year-olds hair. Needless to say, I'm concerned about kids today. But ya know, I've played role-playing games, heck, I even DM'd: and I NEVER EVEN DREAMED that any of it was more than a fantasy. These kids are just pyschopaths looking for a reason to justify their murderous intentions - and the govt's tacit approval of "Wicca" as a valid religion gave them an "official" place to become truly evil...
