There may have been four innocent people dead if she had to find the key to a trigger lock. Either or the intruders planned to let her and the children live to identify them and put them in prison or they planned to kill her and the children.
People who don't intend to kill you disguise themselves with masks and nondiscript clothing. If someone breaks into your house and they do not cover their faces or try to hide their identitiy they are going to kill you.

Gun control is a much better approach. When the intruder came through the door, having a cop on the phone would have been a much better defense than a gun in hand.

The other intruder fled. He was described as 25 to 35 years old, almost 6 feet tall, with a slender build and dark, wavy hair. Sheriff's deputies were looking for him Friday evening. Better keep than gun handy just in case this fruitcake comes back. I hope he feels real bright now that his buddy is dead.

It wasn't clear who owned the gun.WHO CARES?!
No charges had been filed late Friday.
...so the victim now has to worry about whether or not she will be charged with murder.
I have yet to see a news report that doesn't make subtle attempts to question a justifiable shooting of a violent criminal in order to plant seeds of doubt in the readers' mind. Had the intruders succeeded in killing her and her 3 kids, the reporter would be speculating how 'disadvantaged' the crimials must have been.

I grew up real close to that town. This wouldn't surprise me 20-25 years ago.Sac City and Early were like wild west towns in those days. Now they're like ghost towns.I couldn't imagine anything like that going on there now.

Myers, a math teacher at Schaller-Crestland High School, said he was Wehde's teacher for several years. That's not a good sign for the teachers, his parents, or the mortally foolish young man. ...Unless the high school is a very small one...

Shall I? Oh, okay, I'll go ahead. The Early bird gets the worm. Someone had to say it.
