WASHINGTON -- President Bush said Saturday that 300,000 jobs could be saved if Congress quickly reaches compromise on legislation to bolster the sagging economy. Negotiations between Republicans and Democrats resumed, but time was growing short for an agreement.
"This is really hard because the lines are drawn so deeply by both sides," said Sen. Max Baucus, chairman of the Senate Finance Committee. "At this point, it's dicey."

On one hand we have the Democrats (the Left) who want to give more benefits to those out of work, and then give more benefits to those out of work, and then give more benefits to those out of work. Notice, the Left have no plan for getting the workers BACK to work. Instead, the Left is once again perpetuating a cycle of dependence where they make people reliant on their largesse, thus creating a pool of dependent voters who will always vote for the Left to ensure the money keeps coming. Can you spell S-L-A-V-E-R-Y?
On the other hand, we have the Republicans (Conservatives) who want to give more benefits to those out of work and who also want to let the businessmen (who create jobs) keep their money to create more jobs so the jobless can get back to work, becoming independent of governmental handouts. Can you spell F-R-E-E-D-O-M?
The difference between the Democrats and Republicans could not be made more clear. The Democrats want to use the drug of Federal money to addict and enslave people made vulnerable due to the recession. Republicans want to help these vulnerable people and get them back to work so these vulnerable people can be independent once again.
P.S. Did you notice that the defintion of "rich" (by the Left) is now set at $27,000?
Since the job only seems to attract the worst for our country (liberal scum-sucking trash or turncoat republicans), they should be treated as the criminals they are.
There are an awful lot of young people who make $27,000 a year, and vote Dimocrat because they think they're not rich and will get some kind of benefit from Dimness. We need to talk this up among Dim voters we know, that the young $27,000 a year secretary is being taxed as a rich person to support other young people on welfare and unemployment.
I think it is necessary to simplify the reasoning behind a tax cut and to show people how supply side economics works. Consider taxes as a toll paid for travelling the economic highway. The higher the toll, the less that road will be travelled. The lower the toll, the more people will travel.
Think in terms of a Pizza shop owner that notices his sales are dropping.(IE:a recession) It may make sense to him that to protect his profit margin,he should raise the cost of his Pizza, but what is likely to occur is that his sales will drop even more, driving him out of business.
Cutting taxes will put more money into the hands of business owners AND working citizens enabling them all to buy more "stuff". The stores with "stuff" to sell will be calling the factories to make all of this "stuff" and order more of it to meet the new demand. The factory will then realize that they need to employ more people to make the "stuff" that is now in higher demand thereby employing those that are struggling to live on unemployment insurance. Now these same folks that have come back into the work force ALSO have more money with which to buy more "stuff" increasing the demand even more. All of the sudden, they need even MORE people to make "stuff" for us to buy. And surprise surprise. The lower taxes have now created more people contibuting to the revenue of the US government. So now, instead of bringing in 500 billion dollars per year at a higher tax rate, the US government is now bringing in One TRILLION dollars at the lower tax rate.
This is the reality that democrats do not want you to know. Why do they want to hide this truth from you? I mean it gives THEM more money to pour into their pet project social welfare programs...right? It sure does, but it also greatly reduces the NEED for these pet project social welfare programs. How will they convince the voters that they need them to protect them and care for them? Heaven forbid that people realize that they can take care of themselves far better than the government can.
Want to stimulate the ecomony? MINIMIZE GOVERNMENT!!!
What we don't need is more spending and more programs. We need to eliminate all of the FAT!
One is suppose to be looking for another job while collecting benifits. It is not paid vacation.
I would venture to guess that many young people in that category are consuming and not saving. They see the credit card companies and banks as gouging on interest rates, while if they had any assets they would see the government gouging on taxes.
Your point seems so easy to understand, but people find it very easy to justify "their" theft as not being truly theft, but a necessary and commpassionate thing to do.
All the Republicans want to do is steal your money a little slower.....oh, and invade your bedroom, because of course, they must ensure that we are all on the RIGHT moral compass.
