There is a major push underway by a small minority for very strict gun control to stop the violence. These advocates seem to be missing some valuable history lessons that I will try to remind them. Guns have been available for centuries. Guns were far more easily accessible 30 years ago than they are today, yet if you check statistics and facts (no they arent usually the same) youll see that gun violence was almost non-existent even ten years ago.
I grew up the Western USA in the sixties and guns were readily available at any time (my father grew up in the forties and guns were also easily accessible). At my High School every pickup truck had a gun rack with at least one gun hanging on it while on school property. We were also allowed to carry pocketknives and use them at school. The thing to remember is that these weapons of destruction were practically never used to harm anyone. There were occasional accidents, but that was all they were.
In those days if you disliked someone you got in a fistfight with them after school and then a lot of time you became friends. There was never any thought to shooting anyone, even the thought of this would have driven the student out of school and into jail.
Back then we all respected our elders, life and, each other as individuals. I heard of only one person while growing up that mentioned a gun in anger, he was expelled immediately and sent the police to do community service. When he returned to school he profusely apologized and was accepted back into the school.
If guns were so easily accessible, and everything else is the same (as these gun control advocates would have you believe) then how can they explain their views? The thing that they are misleading everyone about is the simple fact that things are not the same.
Unfortunately the parents of the seventies failed in their responsibilities of teaching their children right from wrong. They allow the establishments (schools, society, etc.) to teach respect and values. This allowed a new vile enemy to creep into our society, Politically Correctness.
It is now referred to simply as PC, and it has corrupted our society completely. When you look more closely at this utopian ideal it becomes clear. Let me attempt to break it down as I see it. Politically Correct definition: Political the idea of seeking an office in any means possible (usually by lying or deceiving), Correct the ideal of proving that you are right. Therefore PC would be lying/deceiving to prove you are right.
With this new analogy it is much easier to see the truth shining through. For years now these PC advocates have been bending the truth to make it appear correct. One great example is the homosexual radicals. They convinced most of us that homosexuality isnt a proper term for their perversion, the terms to use should really be Gay and Lesbian. Homosexuality is such a dirty word and it has a bad reputation, so after years of indoctrination they changed most peoples views of their perversion. After all it is all behind closed doors right? No its not, if it were it wouldnt be an issue at all.
PC advocates have also convinced us that morals and respect arent really necessary and that we should go out of our way never to offend anyone. If we couldnt offend anyone by expressing our beliefs then we couldnt criticize the homosexual agenda. Dont get me wrong, homosexuals werent the only ones selling this form of deception. There were minorities of all kinds buying into the lie as a way to seek their agenda. When I say minorities, I dont mean skin color or race, this applies to anyone who would gain in this battle.
I say that the time is now to start educating the people of the simple yet powerful basics that we have lost. We have lost a lot of decency and morality in the world because of a few radicals you were organized and would stop at nothing to get us to accept their perversions and values (or lack of). We can make a difference, but we need to do it soon.
Look at the headlines, look at how many stupid PC tricks are being brought into the main stream of the world. Have you heard of schools were prayer is not allowed? Have you seen places were it is not allowed to Say Merry Christmas? Are you fed up with a radical few making us all miserable? If so then speak up and stop the madness before its too late.
The issue of gun control isnt really an issue of guns, it an issue of making guns available to immoral, immature people who by PC indoctrination can no longer determine right from wrong. The value of human life is now at an all time low, such as in the times of the Great Roman Empire (and look what happened to them). Eliminating guns wont solve the problem, but new morals and respect taught to our children will change the circle of violence with time and patience.
This article is far from perfect, but hopefully it will make you think and apply these missing values to our lives again. We need to get back to being right with God and each other, and we need to do it today as a community. God Bless you all.
The longest-living Founding Father was John Quincy Adams. As such, he was a much sought after speaker for patriotic events. On July 4, 1837, he made a very astute observation. He said,
"Why is it that, next to the birthday of the Savior of the world, your most joyous and most venerated festival returns on this day? Is it not that, in the chain of human events, the birthday of the nation is indissolubly linked with the birthday of the Savior? That it forms a leading event in the Progress of the Gospel dispensation?
Is it not that the Declaration of Independence first organized the social compact on the foundation of the Redeemer's mission upon earth? That it laid the cornerstone of human government upon the first precepts of Christianity and gave to the world the first irrevocable pledge of the fulfillment of the prophecies announced directly from Heaven at the birth of the Savior and predicted by the greatest of the Hebrew prophets 600 years before?"
The PC Liberal Braintwisters and their unwitting mouthpieces (the supposed "conservatives" who pretend that America wasn't founded as a Christian Nation) hate all such references.
They hate being reminded of George Washington's Thanksgiving Proclamation, where he said'
"Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor; and Whereas both Houses of Congress have, by their joint committee, requested me "to recommend to the people of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness:"
Now, therefore, I do recommend and assign Thursday, the 26th day of November next, to be devoted by the people of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being who is the beneficent author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be; that we may then all unite in rendering unto Him our sincere and humble thanks for His kind care and protection of the people of this country previous to their becoming a nation; for the signal and manifold mercies and the favorable interpositions of His providence in the course and conclusion of the late war; for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty which we have since enjoyed; for the peaceable and rational manner in which we have been enable to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national one now lately instituted' for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed, and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and, in general, for all the great and various favors which He has been pleased to confer upon us.
And also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech Him to pardon our national and other transgressions; to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually; to render our National Government a blessing to all the people by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed; to protect and guide all sovereigns and nations (especially such as have show kindness to us), and to bless them with good governments, peace, and concord; to promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the increase of science among them and us; and, generally to grant unto all mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as He alone knows to be best.
Given under my hand, at the city of New York, the 3d dy of October, A.D. 1789.
(signed) G. Washington
America was founded as a Christian Nation, and must return to the God of our fathers, the one true God who created all in this universe, including our Republic.
And we must give thanks for the unimaginable gift of His one and only Son, Jesus Christ, who came into the world that all who believed in Him might not perish, but have life everlasting. Amen.
Merry Christmas
Morals? Aren't moral judgements, well, "judgemental"?
Respect? What's that?
If we conclude that we need to teach morality and respect, that means someone (parents, teachers, adults in general) will be to blame for the violence in our society. It is so much easier to blame inanimate objects like guns.
I agree wholeheartedly that in spite of the claims of Sarah Brady, guns have never been less available. The use of guns to commit acts of violence is a symptom of a deeper problem in our society. Banning guns to end violence is like taking aspirin to cure a headache caused by brain cancer. The cancer will still be there. So will the violence.
"All that is needed for the forces of evil to triumph is for enough good men to do nothing." - Edmond Burke"
Too many Christians, of which I am one, shy away from confronting evil in motion.
It's kind of the "if you don't agree with abortion, don't have one...if you don't agree with owning and beating slaves, don't own and beat slaves" argument.
Churches need to be more than money-making machines which subscribe to the lowest common denominator of the membership in a desperate bid to maintain that membership.
Churches and community groups need to stand up against the PC movement, which is flourishing due to the sheer cowardice of millions.
There are only two roads in life: one to Hell, one to Heaven.
In the end, only one question will ever matter:
"Which road did I take?"

"You don't drown by falling in the water; you drown by staying there." -Edwin Louis Cole
The carrying of arms in duedal societies is limited to an elite class and prohibited to the serfs and thralls. In Western Europe, Japan, China, India, and even Islamic cultires the carrying of weapons signified a peer of the nobility. Those who seek to control the possession and carrying of weapons seek to a society where there are merely the rulers and the slaves. They of course would be the rulers in such a society. There has never yet been a case of genocide against an unarmed population. Have all those societies that have disarmed their population been subjected to genocide? Not yet but we shall see. have all those societies that have disarmed the population seen a degradation of their society and a decrease in personal liberty most certainly.
Clearly should it ever come to some government officer coming to your home to take away your weapons then it is necessary to kill that offical and then to seek out the politician that sent that official and do the same to that politician. The alternative is to peaceably get aboard the railroad car and then in an orderly manner march to the de-lousing shower.
Yes the gun grabboids lie. That is necessary to achieve their goals.
Stay well - Stay safe - Stay armed - Yorktown
Is that what you meant?
GWB, for your bump list.
LoL. I love it.
It'll take God's grace poured out in heaping helpings, to turn this Nation from its' evil course.
It would certainly help, if the mainline denominations would preach the Bible, and practice what they preach.
Bump what you said.
Fingers get lysdexia? We know what you meant.
Stay well - stay safe - Stay armed - Yorktown
...but two areas of commerce have increased dramatically in that same timeframe.
Bible sales and gun purchases. Amen.
We're well - We're safe - We're armed - WTC
The article mentioned the Roman Empire. Did you ever notice that the Roman Empire allowed its citizens even in unruly provinces to own swords? The apostle Peter owned and carried one the night he cut off a Roman centurian's ear. Jesus advised some of his followers to sell their cloaks to buy a sword for self-defense.
Eternal and temporal salvation.
That would be the GODLESS libertarians
The article references some of people/establishments that need to affect the needed changes (parents/teachers/etc.) without (seemingly) realizing that the teachers are one of the biggest parts of the problem. While most of their hearts may be in the right place, their ideology is WAY off base due to the liberal "teacher's colleges" that most have attended and EXACTLY what they are advocating. What is passing for "education" these days has more to do with indoctrination than anything else. Public school children are being indoctrinated into the ways of One World Government, earth worship, subjective morals and nanny government along with lack of personal responsibility. This is NOT, I repeat NOT an accident. John Dewey (considered the father of modern "education") was a devout Humanist and communist. The current train of thought seems to be that there are ALWAYS mitigating circumstances for any and all bad decisions that have nothing to do with the lack of religion now allowed in public life and places. Too many people have bought into the lie that religion has no place in government. Our Constitution only prevented the federal government from establishing/declaring a national religion (read also: denomination), not for preventing religion any part in government. It (the Constitution) even allowed the individual states to enact "state religions". Goodness, gracious, how far we have come from the framers original intent.
The article IS correct that cowardice is what has allowed this atrocity to progress to present levels. People are basically SHEEP (as recognized by the Bible) who will express the same opinion as the last one they heard and who will tolerate most anything unless someone steps forward to lead them. God would be the preferable one to do the leading but, seeing as how a goodly portion of our society seems to have no realationship with the Almighty, maybe the rest of us need to get off our duffs and try doing a bit of leading ourselves....
