For Freedom’s Sake: Remove Feminist Professors
Toogood Reports ^ | December 19, 2001 | Henry Makow Ph.D.

Did you hear the squealing last week from the mice called “university professors”?

It seems they saw the shadow of a cat: Senator Joseph McCarthy, and the House Un-American Activities Committee.

They believe an innocuous report by the American Council of Trustees and Alumni (ACTA) augurs loyalty oaths, witch-hunts and attacks on their academic freedom.

Entitled “Defending Civilization: How Our Universities are Failing America,” the report listed over 100 examples of less-than-patriotic reaction to America´s response to Sept. 11.

For example, the University of Massachusetts granted a permit for a protest against the war but revoked a permit for a rally in favor.

At a teach-in at CUNY, a math instructor blamed “the capitalist ruling class” for Sept. 11. Another professor said, “US hands are soaked in blood.”

The mice were trembling because ACTA was founded by Lynne Cheney, wife of Vice President Dick Cheney. Presumably she has influence in high places.

Also, the mice were alarmed because the report originally “named names,” more than 40, including the president of Wesleyan University.

David Price, of St. Martin´s College in Olympia WA, said the ACTA report is “a prototype of a neo-McCarthyist blacklist for our new hot war.” Seattle Times (Dec.16)

Roberto Gonzalez, a professor at San Jose State said this “incendiary” report “might signal the emergence of a new McCarthyism . . . a full-blown witch-hunt in the name of ‘defending civilization´, “ and he called it “academic terrorism.” San Jose Mercury News, (Dec.13)

Because of this uproar, ACTA removed the “names” from their web site version of the report. Too many people were focusing on them instead of the message, said ACTA VP, Anne Neal.

The purpose of the report was to highlight “the moral cleavage that exists between the intellectual elite and mainstream America,” Neal said.

”At a time when we are defending our civilization… we wanted to alert trustees … to make sure U.S. history and the heritage of Western Civilization is fairly transmitted on their campuses.” Seattle Times, (Dec. 16)

Setting a Mouse Trap:

Indeed, there is a witch-hunt at American universities.

But it is the witches who are doing the hunting.

Radical feminists and their allies control the liberal arts/ social sciences on US campuses.

Feminism is a lesbian Marxist ideology deceptively disguised as “equal rights” for women. Feminists are frankly dedicated, not to the preservation of Judeo Christian civilization but to its overthrow. Their self-defined mission is to indoctrinate the young.

They have purged hundreds of professors using false charges of sexual harassment and racism. They have created a reign of fear based on political correctness, speech codes, censorship, tribunals, intimidation and discrimination.

Only “their” people are hired. Surveys indicate that fewer than 20% of professors vote Republican.

Lynne Cheney describes this assault on freedom in her fine book Telling the Truth (1995).

To learn more, see: Alan Kors & Harvey Silverglade, The Shadow University (1998); Dinesh D´Souza Illiberal Education (1991); Richard Bernstein Dictatorship of Virtue (1994); David Horowitz and Peter Collier, “Surviving the PC University´ (1993); and John Fekete, Moral Panic (1994). See also David Horowitz´s campaign against campus PC

What Happened to the Liberal Arts?

The Liberal Arts by definition is dedicated to the quest for the “truth.”

It assumes that truth exists. This derives from the belief in G-d. “The Truth shall make you free,” said Christ. “G-d is Truth.”

But universities were taken over by people who don´t believe in G-d. They believe in Karl Marx, a misfit who never held a job. They believe in an earthly paradise based on collectivism and “equality”.

“Truth,” for them, is anything that supports this discredited Communist dream. Everything else is a lie.

Feminist professors want to “deconstruct” all of Western Civilization. They distort everything to one standard: “How do these works try to justify inequality, especially the exploitation of women?”

Feminists diminish and demean all human experience to fit their pathetic simple-minded political agenda. As an intellectual discipline, feminism is a fraud.

Feminists say they must rewrite history and culture from the point of view of women. This is preposterous. The human experience is, generally speaking, the same for men and women.

The feminists´ real goal, aside from creating employment for themselves, is to destroy the culture they are paid to preserve.

Similarly, feminist professors champion “multiculturalism” and “diversity.” They promote everything non-male and non-European thereby disavowing the American heritage. Today, (as the ACTA report says) students can graduate from the top 55 US universities without taking a single course in American history.

This is not coincidence. The feminist professorate has a frankly subversive agenda, to prepare the ground for totalitarianism.

While the United States is dedicated to the expression of the human spirit, Marxists are dedicated to its repression.

While the United States is dedicated to individual freedom, democracy, competition, private property and the pursuit of spiritual ideals, Marxists are dedicated to equality (sameness), coercion, collectivism and conformity.

In the tradition of Nazis and Communists, feminists sacrifice the individual to the group. Everyone is defined by group identity, e.g. white male, woman of color, gay etc. Hiring people by these racist and sexist criteria is the antithesis of “equal rights.”

Feminists erase the distinction between private and public matters. Echoing their fascist precursors, they say, ”the personal is the political.” This allows the state to control every aspect of our existence. Welcome to 1984.

Invoking McCarthy as a Tactic:

Feminists proudly admit to dismantling heterosexuality and Western Civilization. Yet they are shocked to encounter any resistance. They pretend to be innocent victims and smear their opponents as “hate-filled Neanderthals.”

They invoke Sen. Joseph McCarthy and “witch-hunts”, to imply that any opposition to their totalitarian agenda, is an attack on freedom. This will not work.

First, they are the true enemies of freedom, the masters of the witch-hunt and black list.

Second, Sen. McCarthy made some mistakes but he was right. America was and is crawling with misguided people who would enslave us to their quixotic vision.

If America is going to flourish, the feminist stranglehold on the liberal arts must be broken. Many feminist professors must be purged and conservatives hired in their place. Then, we will have genuine dialogue. Feminists are great believers in quotas so I´m sure they´ll appreciate this one.

So-called “Women Studies” Departments should be shut down. They are the feminist equivalent of Al Queda training camps. They produce the John Walkers, male and female.

In the War for Civilization, we cannot ignore the subversives who have taken control of the education system. They ruined half of my life. I grew up thinking capitalism was evil and this prevented me from participating in society.

American society has been successful because it is the product of a 5000-year-old Judeo Christian culture. We have a sacred duty to defend this culture with the same vigor that we defend our borders.

Let´s take back our universities. “Let´s roll.”

Excellent article! It's a shame that the patient has to be near terminal before the doctor will announce, "I'm afraid it's cancer."

However, recognizing a problem is the first step in solving it (if it can be solved). The immensity of this problem is staggering. How do you extricate such radical influences once they are so deeply rooted that they have become the norm in a self-perpetuating system? Many universities are funded by our tax money whether we like what they stand for or not. We, the taxpayers, don’t have control over what idiocy the "enlightened, educated elite" may spew at their captive and impressionable audiences. Where else, but in governmentally controlled situations are you forced to pay for a product you don’t want?

I am frustrated that the only apparent cure for this problem is to send my kids to a private university with a reputation for wholesome values. Only one problem… money. Parents who don’t have the money have to resign themselves to exposing their kids to four years of a brainwashing environment for their later developmental years.

How do you like this solution? Enact university funding solely through a student voucher system. Students then have freedom to attend the university of their choice. Money talks, and once it walks, you can bet overpaid administrators will start listening.

Power to the People!

Feminism is a lesbian Marxist ideology deceptively disguised as “equal rights” for women.

Well, that's got to be the most biased over-simplification I've ever seen. Nothing like countering biased rhetoric with even more biased rhetoric. It's been less than a hundred years since women have been allowed to even vote, but of course "equal rights" is just a a lesbian Marxist codeword. How could I have missed that?!?!

Where are "equal rights" currently lacking between men and women in your view?

EX-SMITH COACH AWARDED $1.6 MILLION IN SEX, AGE DISCRIMINATION CASE

By Justin Pope, Associated Press, 12/18/2001 17:01

BOSTON (AP) A former coach at Smith College was awarded $1.65 million from a jury that agreed the all-women's college discriminated against him, in part because he is a man.

''To have the truth come out was like I got my life back,'' James Babyak of Holyoke said Tuesday, a day after a jury awarded him the money as compensation for age and sex discrimination, and for retaliating against him for filing a complaint.

Babyak, 56, was 188-211 in 16 seasons as basketball coach at the Northampton college. In his final full season in 1995-96, he finished 19-8, the best record in program history.

He was also 191-124-19 in 18 seasons as a soccer coach, and won the conference championship in his final season with a 10-7-2 record, according to college records.

Babyak claimed he was fired in 1997 because the college wanted a woman and someone younger for the coaching jobs. He filed a complaint with the Massachusetts Commission on Discrimination, and claims the college then retaliated by firing him from a summer program the college runs.

The college claimed Babyak was fired because of unsatisfactory performance and also because he pressured soccer players into giving him favorable evaluations.

Smith spokeswoman Laurie Fenlason said the college was deciding whether to appeal the verdict. ''Smith is an equal opportunity employer with a demonstrated history of strong commitment to fair employment practices,'' she said. Four of the college's 11 varsity coaches are men, she said.

Babyak's lawyer, Robert L. Leonard, said the jury awarded his client $490,000 for lost income; $110,000 for emotional distress; $550,000 for age discrimination; $250,000 for gender discrimination; and $250,000 on the retaliation claim.

Leonard said the reverse discrimination case is unusual but insists the claim is valid and the award reasonable.

''Even though Smith College is a women's college, it is still subject to the same laws as every other employer in Massachusetts,'' he said. ''They can't discriminate based on gender.''
