Federal authorities looking for an answer to the murderous anthrax attacks are investigating a scientist who was fired from a company that has produced the deadly bacterium, it was reported last night.

ABC News said the scientist, who worked at Columbus, Ohio-based Battelle, made a threat to use anthrax in the days after the Sept. 11 attacks.

More fluff. See: Scientist's anthrax claim was bogus.

This scientist was apparently in Milwaukee, talking to the Milwaukee police, on Sept. 18, when two of the anthrax letters were postmarked in Trenton.

Unless he went to Trenton, mailed them after the last mail pick-up on Sept. 17, and then quickly went back home to Trenton on Sept. 18, this is not a real lead.

Plus one would have to assume that this guy went to NJ again to mail weaponized anthrax to Daschle several days after his home had been searched by the cops and a story describing his drunken verbal threat to make anthrax, ensuing from a domestic dispute involving a lawnmower, had been written up in his hometown newspaper. And, one would have to assume that the FBI still haven't arrested him more than two months after these incidents occured, instead preferring to arrest an innocent Pakastani, Allah Rakah, even though they have publicly indicated that they suspect a domestic, non-Muslim loner is responsible for the anthrax letters.

No laws of physics would be violated by all this, but it doesn't sound very likely, does it?

If he was in town in the late afternoon and evening of 9/17, it does violate a law of physics (the law that says that you can't simultaneously be in Milwaukee and Trenton)!

You're right, this guy doesn't seem like the likely mailer of anthrax. But what if he were just the supplier? Maybe he stole/cooked up a batch, and handed it off to someone else long before it was eventually mailed in Trenton.

I find this article very interesting because I've always been curious about the fact that the return address mentioned a Greendale School instead of the NJ Greenbrook school in Franklin Park. I thought it might be a Freudian slip from someone from Milwaukee because Greendale and Franklin, WI are right next to each other.

So unlike most posters, I certainly can't dismiss the possibility that this guy is the anthrax supplier and envelope writer (or the one who dictated it). Wouldn't it make sense for Al Qaeda to try to recruit a disgruntled alcoholic scientist?... Of course everyday brings a new "suspect", but this particular one I find quite interesting.

Since November I have been convinced that the culprit is an American scientist, an activist in the effort to force Congress to pass a new Biological Weapons Treaty which has been rejected by Bush and the Congress. I believe that there were political reasons for the Anthrax letters.

See my original thread from November 23. Well before Greepeace published their suspicions.

Yes, I remember your maps of the Milwaukee area.

I checked the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel to see if there was an updated story on this guy (Clinton's a Rapist posted one from October last night), but couldn't find anything.

I missed your post, so thanks for the link. VERY interesting indeed. I need more time to read the whole thread to find out why the people the letters were sent to were targeted. Several possible theories.
