Driving home from a business trip this evening, I was searching through the AM radio stations, when I stumbled upon Laura Ingraham's new radio show. Her guest was Vanity Fair's man about town, Dominick Dunne, and he was telling a bizarre story about a lead he had pursued in the Chandra Levy case.
Apparently Dunne has a middle eastern source, referred to as The Horse Whisperer, who claimed to have seen Chandra, in an incoherent state, being smuggled onto an airplane. Chandra was not walking, but rather was being carried, upright, by a group of men. The leader of this group was a man known to The Horse Whisperer as a gigolo for a prostitution ring servicing a very wealthy clientèle associated with middle eastern embassies in Washington, DC. Dunne referred to the gigolo as The Procurer.
Dunne contacted the Levy family with this information, and they put him in touch with the FBI. The FBI then had Dunne pose a series of questions to The Horse Whisperer, in the hope that The Horse Whisperer would reveal the identity of The Procurer. Although the The Horse Whisperer described The Procurer in great detail, he refused to disclose The Procurer's name. However, it was learned that The Procurer was an insider with the Dubai royal family, so Dunne travelled to London for the Dubai Stakes, where a large contingent of the Dubai royal family was to be found.
Somehow The Procurer had been given a video tape of Dunne, so that The Procurer could be expected to know Dunne's identity. After the running of the Stakes, Dunne spent a long time milling about the winner's circle, among members of the Dubai royal family, hoping that The Procurer would introduce himself, but nothing came of it.
Soon thereafter, Dunne had a 5:00 AM conversation with The Horse Whisperer, begging him to reveal the identity of The Procurer, but The Horse Whisperer continued to refuse. The conversation got ugly: The Horse Whisperer changed his story, Dunne threatened to reveal The Horse Whisperer's identity to the FBI, and The Horse Whisperer started talking cloak and dagger stuff, like murder & assassination. After the conversation ended, Dunne got in touch with his man at MI6 - unbeknownst to The Horse Whisperer, MI6 had tapped the lines and monitored the calls The Horse Whisperer was making that morning. Apparently, after terminating his call with Dunne, The Horse Whisperer, in rapid succession, made about ten more calls around town [à la Hillary and Maggie Williams, the night poor Vince Foster died]. Dunne says the investigation is now in the hands of the FBI and MI6 [or MI5, or whatever].
The Horse Whisperer's theory is that the Dubai thugs drugged Chandra, flew her out over the Atlantic, and dumped her in the ocean.
Yeah, and he kept talking about the FBI & MI6. Dunne's journalistic specialty is the life and crimes of the rich and famous.
I am sure her parents are sad enough. Now this is the only press Chandra gets...
Condit slimes likes a snake...
You are aware that he's a reeking Clintonite, aren't you?
What does that tell you about him?
No, it sounded like Dunne thought that The Procurer was working on behalf of Condit, or at least to Condit's benefit. Dunne's theory is that Condit never gave any explicit instruction to have Chandra offed; rather, Dunne believes that Condit gave an associate a wink and a nod, with the understanding that the associate would take care of the problem. That way, according to Dunne's theory, Condit can take a lie detector test, and answer, truthfully, that he has no idea what happened to Chandra - because, in fact he does have no such idea - all he knows is that the problem disappeared.
Of course, as you indicated, the other question is how Condit fell in with a prostitution ring that services the middle eastern embassies in Washington, DC. From what I've read of Muslim men [and I've read a fair amount since September 11], their 72 virgins are not necessarily little girl virgins. If The Procurer were procuring little boy virgins, that would have been up Condit's alley [no pun intended].
Sure is, unless The Procurer was grabbing a cheeseburger in Luray, Virginia at midnight on May 17, 2001.
Murdered after abduction is even more far-fetched, who wastes time and money to kill a forced-prostitute, what good is a dead hooker?
There is no motive... unless there is some sick desperate puppet string pullers.
Actually, I was most aware of his outrage that OJ got off. He pulled no real punches there.
