President Bush welcomed Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev to the White House today to discuss regional security issues in the war on terrorism. During a meeting with members of the Office of Homeland Security, Bush highlighted the accomplishments of his first year in office. Also, the brand new oval office rug, which is unique to the Bush Administration, was revealed today for the first time. First Lady Laura Bush helped design the rug, which also includes a little bit of Texas in it- the lone star. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

Nice rug - simple, understated, but also elegant rather than extravagent. Did the Bush administration ever replace the carpet in the Oval Office when they moved in?

Thanx so much....beautiful!

Can't wait for your special edition!
We really need to give you a medal (or something) for all your efforts this year. It's really made a difference because we see things one never sees on tv and get such a good picture of what's really going on with our President.
Plus, he's so good to look at (and Laura, too).

Oh dear rintense, I'll be back East visiting my daughter and her Marine Captain husband and their 2 1/2 children (new baby due May 31 2002), so I'll try to connect from there.
They love our President and First Lady too.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you, dear rintense, and please make 2002 a wonderful year for all of us who love and need "A Day in the Life of President Bush"!

yea, they replaced it, he was using the Reagan rug until this one was made. This one was stitched together with an electric needle.

Trust me, on this one I know just about everything. When they moved into the Oval Office in January, the rug that had been there during the Clinton Administration was removed, and the rug from Ronald Reagan's years was put down. That is the one they have been using until this one was delivered today. The Clinton rug was very bright. The Reagan one was champagne colored, except for the presidential seal.
To: rintense
To my knowledge, they replaced everything! They probably had to (especially the old rug - ugh!) The new one is beautiful!
To: rintense
Seems like it....This rug looks like it is over a new (refurbished ?) wood floor. Notice the pattern made by the alternating strips near the outside of the room.
Of course, if this were Queen Hillary leading the effort, the fashion press and TV journalists would be all over the story with front page stories.
