AT&T Let me go! (Vanity)

I found a great deal with Sprint for cellular service. I'm getting 1,500 minutes of anytime calls, free long distance, free roaming plus 1,000 off peak minutes for $74.99 a month! In addition, I was offered unlimited pcs to pcs calling for an additional $10 per month.
I'm writing this post for two reasons:
1) to let any of you Christmas shoppers know about this fantastic deal (free phone included btw)and,
2) To tell you that AT&T didn't even TRY to keep me as a cutomer when I phoned to discontinue my old service!
This is absolutely breathtaking to me. As an AT&T stock holder (until Monday that is) I am amazed that they are willing to let Sprint walk off with their business.
If there are any freeper AT&T emploees out there, I would suggest you start polishing off your resume's immediately!
I think my AT&T cable will be the next thing I drop as I move to the dish.

Is that $74.99 before tax? If so, don't be surprised to see a $100 bill.

Plus, after first allowing their internet broadband customers to be cut off for a few days (starting on a Saturday, no less) they then restored service, but at only 128k. Now they are selling out to Comcast.
The good news is that Comcast knows the value of a customer.

Yes, Beofore tax. It still beats my 1,000 minutes from AT&T for $119 (before tax as well).

Did they tell you about the $100 connection fee and $200 cancellation if you stop before 1 yr?

First of all understand that the sprint service I have received is very poor. I have never had the phone keep a connection up when driving and passing from cell to cell.
Second, you probably signed a one year deal with a penalty clause. If you reduce the minutes Sprint will want to re new your one year deal.
I recently received an AT&T phone from my employer and the ability to keep a call up, compared to my Sprint service, is excellent.
I have used two different phones with sprint and have the latest software upgrade too. They just have lousy service and that is why they offer the best apparent deal in town.

My wife does all her family calling on her work commute.
.... This way I don't have to listen to it!

Thank you. I live in Los Angeles and will keep an eye on them. I'm going to see how she likes it before I drom MY AT&T service.

I had AT&T for over ten years until I got DSL. AT&T couldn't believe a residential customer would have DSL so they started billing me a business. I made numerous calls and send numerous certified letters to the contrary to no avail. I felt I couldn't afford to pay .45 a minute for long distance when I could get 1000 anywhere minutes a month included in my voicestream cell phone for $45 a month, so I dropped their service.
AT&T kept calling to solicit me to restart service and when I told AT&T of the problem the sales department stated they could nothing and to contact customer service. I guess their sales department doesn't talk to their customer service department.

The best thing to be is 'a former AT&T customer'. They keep sending me checks, anything from $50 to $90 and I keep cashing them. Apparently me cashing the checks should give them the right to switch me to AT&T. The problem is that the local phone co. won't do it unless I request this in writing or if both me and AT&T are on the phone with them at the same time.
And they keep sending me those checks.
Btw - a switched off AT&T after they began taking $$$ of my credit card and claiming that the full statement was at some Web site which I was never allowed to access - they would notify me that the statement was there but they would never email me my password.
Thank you, AT&T.

You are paying $75.00 plus tax per month and think you have a bargain? I find that absolutey breathtaking!
To: Partisan Hack
Unfortunately, AT&T management has been incompetent for years. Bob Allen squandered a great many opportunities, wasting huge sums of shareholder cash. And things haven't improved....which is really a shame. Lots of AT&T employees are nice folks, and some of their services are quite good.

I'm lost. Are you talking about cell phone service, regular phone service or internet access? The posts are all over the board and I don't know what you are all talking about. Help please.

I'm talking about cell phone service.
To: Partisan Hack
I can beat that. I have 1000 day time and 3500 night and weekend minutes for $75.00. My 4500 minutes trumps your 2500 minutes, also my coverage is fantastic. Verizon.
To: Partisan Hack
LOL - I pay $4.77 a month for long distance on a regular phone - that's because I DON'T USE IT. My cell bill is between $6 and $12 dollars a month. I guess I don't have much to say . . . . .
To: Partisan Hack
Thank you. That clears that up.
