President Bush greeted the Olympic torch today at the White House. Bush received the torch from Elizabeth Anderson Howell, whose husband died in the attack on the Pentagon. After making a quick speech, the President then handed to torch to Eric Jones, who helped carry wounded victims and the Marine Corps flag out of the Pentagon rubble. Bush and First Lady Laura headed to Crawford, TX to spend Christmas at the Western White House. Enjoy you daily dose of Dubya!

QUOTE OF THE DAY: The year now ending saw a few acts of terrible evil. It also saw many more acts of courage and kindness and love. And these reflect the great hope of Christmas -- a light shines in the darkness, and the darkness shall not overcome it.

Happy Birthday, Missiekins!
RWP ~~~ These pictures are so touching .... and the scripture that the President quoted is so appropriate!!!
I thought that the First Family was going to Camp David until Wednesday before heading to the ranch.

Thanks so much - wonderful pictures! I saw it live this morning. Liz couldn't seem to get enough hugs, nor could the President. It was truly moving.
God bless her and our President, as well as the rest of the survivors' families. It will be a difficult Christmas for them.

Those pics really tell a story, don't they?
The young widow comes up smiling and is then overcome with emotion.
Our compassionate president gives her a warm, loving hug.
Love the cowboy hat, & when he took it off.
Thanx, rintense. Didn't really expect a dose today. What a pleasant surprise.

Why does the girl who carried the torch look so distraught?

Her husband was killed at the Pentagon on 9/11.
A truly caring man is our President.

Thank-you....wonderful.

Yeah, loved the scripture ... and it kind of reminded me of him: a light shining in the darkness. After the previous dark and corrupt administration, we get the light of Dubya.

Her husband died in the crash at the Pentagon - he worked there. I believe that the man who took the torch from W also lost his wife in the attack at the Pentagon. Very moving moments there as W so gently tried to comfort the woman.
Sheesh...he looks great in that hat and coat! I also think they are going first to Camp David and then on down to the ranch on Wednesday.

Thanks for the birthday wishes. Can't think of anything better to make a birthday happy than great pictures of GWB. I agree too, great quote.

Could be. I was going by what Fox News said earlier today. Fox has been slipping lately so you probably know more about the President's travel plans than they do.

Look at the pain on his face as he looks at Liz in that one picture where she's trying not to cry. I honestly love our president.

Very moving pictures. Thank you. Bush is THE MAN for our nation in this hour, I have no doubt of it.

The young man who left with the torch was a student. One the day of the crash he went immediately to the Pentagon to help. He's the one who brought out the Marine flag. After that he went to the WTC to help out there. Quite a kid, his parents must be so proud.
