Dustin Wehde rang Michael and Tracey Roberts' doorbell the afternoon of Dec. 13.

The 20-year-old Early man, who had struck up a friendship with Michael Roberts, was looking for odd jobs. Tracey Roberts told him to come back the next day, when her husband would be home from a business trip to Minneapolis.

She and her family are lucky to have survived this attack.

As to the dead man's family, oh well, $h!t happens. If he hadn't attacked her in her home, he wouldn't be dead. Tough noogies.

says alot about gun safes, trigger locks, multiple 'safteys' and the rather insane notion of a 'fingerprint safety'.

when you need a gun ... you NEED a gun.

Lucky it all worked out for this woman.

I'm sure they will re-write their "security plans". But they have one bit of knowledge they didn't have before - this woman is one tough buckerette. She never gave up.

I guess the madatory gun safe was actually a child endangerment device. Maybe now she will carry her firearm on her person. As to her going to Australia well she may not feel so secure there as she will be unable to get to any firearm for self defense.

The revolver works best when under stress.

Except for the 10 lb. trigger pull.

Love my Glock. Pull slide back. Pull trigger.

Same with my Sig, except no need to pull slide back, seeing as how a round lives under the hammer at all times.

Exactly the reason I have a .45 Ruger DC...no safety. Hubby hates it, but I have night blindness and don't want to have to search for a safety in the dark, much easier to de-cock it if I don't need to fire it. I always keep the clip concealed separately but within reach, and I would never cock it unless I felt I was in imminent danger.

I'm a wheelgun nut, but my carry is a 1911. I like the trigger on a SA auto or revolver. I still feel a revolver is best for someone who is not practiced and comfortable with a auto.

I hope she informed them of their "rights" before pulling the trigger, lest they be labeled as victims in the whole ordeal.

Trigger locks gun safes are all fine for guns you don't intend to use right now. They are just another means of gun control pushed by the anti's to show that guns are not needed see if you need them rt now you wouldn't have them locked up so if you have them locked up you don't need them. This women is very lucky they were not armed and killed her before she opened the safe.

Concealed carry is illegal in Missouri, although I know a number of folks---male and female---who do carry daily. Their local cops know this and look the other way as does the county sherrif. Other are always armed at home. They feel they're more likely to need a weapon at home to protect their families. We've had two shootings and at another residence a rape from break-ins in my town, a bedroom community near Kansas City.

Sometimes a loaded shotgun in the bedroom closet can save your life!

I don't know what this has to do with my post.

Reportedly, I am a bit thick sometimes.

Good hunting - Tracy got rid of another pervert. And "hats off" to Bert. He knows how to swing a Louisville Slugger. He probably saved Tracy's life.

As for Ross - lets hope that his pecker gets caught in a pole auger and they turn it off just as his head is being pulled into the gears.

The revolver works best when under stress.

But not always perfectly. In one course I took, I was supposed to do a double-tap on pop-up targets. Simulated stress levels were high, and I only got off one shot. I finally realized that I hadn't released the trigger, so the revolver couldn't fire again. I was just willing the gun to fire again.

I also didn't like fumbling with reloading a revolver under stress. Anything that could go wrong, did go wrong for me. Incomplete extraction, dropped rounds, and fumbling with even a speedloader convinced me I couldn't handle a revolver under stress. Then I borrowed a Glock, and ran the course again, no problemo. I've retired my revolvers to collecting/plinking status, and gone with the good ol' Glock 21 for serious stuff.
