I saw bits and pieces of a show on the History Channel on the construction of the towers. They interviewed a guy from the company that built the towers and he was talking about when the solicitation for bids came to the firm they thought it was a mistake. They thought the decimal point was in the wrong place since the firm had never built anything with a budget approaching that of the WTC. They submitted their design thinking they didnt have a chance of getting the contract and they ended up getting it.
It was also originally designed as an 80 - 90 story structure. Later it was decided that it would be the tallest building in the world. Twice!

What a wonderful link. I copied it and sent it to my e-mail so I would be able to send it to friends.
Thanks

Wish you could turn back time. Frightening in a way because some the photos somewhat resemble site today.

Good post! They should put the buildings back just the way they were (but stronger).
