A former Chicago Board of Education member faces disorderly conduct charges after she was accused of commenting about a bomb in her purse while her luggage was being checked Friday at O'Hare International Airport.
Anna Mustafa, 53, of Tinley Park, was at an International Terminal ticket counter preparing to board a Swissair flight to Tel Aviv when her baggage was randomly selected to pass through a bomb-detection machine, said Chicago police spokeswoman Patrice Harper.

This has got to be one stupid Arab to pull that.

Stupidity seems to be a common trait in that culture.

I'm sure she will file a law suit claiming discrimination. The lawyers must be excited. Their is no basis for her claim. Thank you Mayor Daly. You appointed a wacko to the Board of Ed. It's that diversity thing which is supposed to be our strength.

Police said they experienced delays in processing her fingerprints.I pity the poor soul who drew the short straw to conduct the cavity search.

Mustafa was at the airport Friday to travel to her father's funeral in the West Bank town of Beitunia this weekend, her family said. Her father, Mohammad, died Thursday, and it is Muslim tradition to conduct funeral rites almost immediately
First significant clue in this news account that this woman is going to be extremely wealthy before this is all over.

Stupid does as stupid is.

With a name like Mustafa, on her way to Israel and she is making comments about a bomb in her purse.
People have a right in America to be stupid, some of them abuse the right.
Don't they know that she is a minority which gives her the right to be loud and abusive in public!

Chicago sure picks bright people for their board of education. She must have been an affirmative action hire because I am harboring serious doubts that this woman would fare well in an interview or competing with competent candidates.

"Mouthing off is a far cry from a terrorist threat." No, actually it's the same damn thing. Let her mouth off to the prison inmates and see what happens.

``Mustafa was at the airport Friday to travel to her father's funeral in the West Bank town of Beitunia this weekend, her family said. Her father, Mohammad, died Thursday, and it is Muslim tradition to conduct funeral rites almost immediately.'' I know I'll probably be flamed for posting this but as someone who recently lost a parent, I imagine the woman was stressed out and not being at all rational.
I know her behaviour was stupid...but grief and bereavement can make ye act very strangely. :-)

I know her behaviour was stupid...but grief and bereavement can make ye act very strangely. :-) The authorities just want to make sure that her grief and bereavement are not, um, contagious.

Well, I have lost both my parents now and not once I swear did I yell "bomb" or "fire in the theater" or even flip off another driver around funeral time.

The authorities just want to make sure that her grief and bereavement are not, um, contagious. I'm not suggesting the authorities acted incorrectly at all. I was just tryin' to point out that her actions may have been spurred by her mental state with the stress of an imminent burial.

I understand what you are saying. But people need to understand that you just don't say the word "bomb" at an airport for any reason whatsoever. This was true before 9/11 and is just much more so now.

"A former member of the Chicago School Board..." One COULD hope that means the Board has been made better by a change of personnel, but that seems unlikely, Chicago being what it is.

Why do the Muslims assume all the new rules at the airports only apply to non-Muslims?
