It was an unfortunate fact of ignorance and ignorance that occurred. Talking about it is not subversive. Nor is it an undermining of conservatism.

We should keep a webpage listing the title of the threads that have been deleted, the reason why, and the perosn who deleted it.
This is getting apalling.

That's strange. For the short time I followed the thread, I saw nothing objectionable. What gives?

What bonus march thread? What was it about?

One of the "Hail, Switzerland" threads was deleted as well. While feisty and dying (±350 posts), I hadn't thought it crossed any lines. But I'm not a moderator. Were I a culprit in its demise, I would have thought my own posts deleted and leave it at that. Instead, it vanished. Maybe it was a waste of bandwidth, but a lot of informative posts about Switzerland and the debunking of some myths were also lost.

My mistake. Sorry, I cannot restore the thread. If someone wants to repost it go ahead. Thanks, Jim

The whole Bonus March situation is an episode in American History that I find apalling. A promise to servicemen was made. A promise to servicemen was broken along with some bloodshed. Not exemplary of a government of, by, and for the people. But I'm open to hearing both sides.

Talk about strange, you pinged me when I was asking myself what had happened to Maalaea. I was going to email him to ask what was up with that and couldn't remember how to spell his name so I was going back thru 2,000 old posts looking for some of his articles and they are ALL gone.
I finally found an old email from him but he is no longer a member, did he get banned? What happened to his articles? What is going on here?

Knock it off.

Thanks for explaining Jim. It was getting interesting. The Bonus marchers were asking for $3.2 billion. The equivalent of $251.5 billion in current dollars. Been trying to find what the Federal budget was in 1932. It appears the marchers wanted many times the total receipts of the Feds. You don't hear that from the left wingers.

Knock it off. Hey! That's exactly what the Admin Moderator told me when I got in trouble last week(for no apparent reason, I might add!). ;^)

It used to be that JR was super sensitive over posts with anything to do with race. Lately, JR or the monitors have been touchy about many things. Actually that was a few months ago, I thought things had gotten better. Guess not.

Oops... Movie quotes... Wrong category... Please accept most humble apologies, will never happen again...

Hey I get tired of the whiners too, but it would be common courtesy and not too difficult for the "deleting party" to send a freepmail to the thread "owner" letting them know why their thread was being deleted.
To: RLK
Hi RLK, I started the Bonus March thread. Jim e-mailed me and told me it had been deleted by mistake.
