It is pretty amazing, HG. However, I couldn't help but notice the obligatory "he was distracted by those mean Republicans" statement imbedded herein. One day we may actually see the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth - but probably not from the Globe!

Certainly the ammoniac partisan atmosphere created by then Speaker Newt Gingrich and the Republican Congress contributed.

Saying he "slept" is too mild, it doesn't carry the culpability that it should. Sleeping indicates not knowing, and that is exactly where Clinton's culpability lies, he knew the entire extent of the problem, he just wasn't about to rock the boat of his ratings.

The definition of a leader is one who makes hard decisions, unpopular decisions, decisions that may cost him support but he does what he believes is right regardless of that cost. Reagan is a great example and now, thank God, we have another leader in dubya.

With Clinton, then, now and always, it is all about HIM.

Annie, I agree with your assesment, but the GLOBE'S mean republican statement rings true with alot of Americans. Im not saying I agree with that mind you. But the problem with the GOP was instead of going after Bubba for the legitimate crimes he committed, ie Chinagate, FBI files etc etc etc. The GOP made the mistake of focusing on the whole sexual pecadillo aspect. The problem there was the most vocal of Clinton's critics didnt have clean hands in that department themselves. Most americans if confronted with the same situation Clinton found himself in, may have acted in the same manner. That was the problem with the hearings, It was more about sex than anything else, in the perception of most americans.

I didn't believe it was the Globe at first...then I took a look at the context. All this tragedy and the writer's point of view centers around how it affects B.J. Billy's "legacy." Yep. It's the Globe all right.

Agree! He couldn't help trying to blame the Republicans, and Gingrich by name, but there is a glimmer of hope when one more liberal presstitute finds the I-X42 kneepads a little less comfortable.
