Many people naturally assume that since I work in political journalism, I must breathe, drink and eat politics 24/7/365 -- including on the Thanksgiving holiday. The thought of it gives me indigestion. Self-absorbed creatures who have no life outside the Beltway world are the most tiresome ogres. White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest advised Americans "sitting around the Thanksgiving table" to talk about gun control. The left-wing National Memo published "5 Things To Tell Your Republican relatives at Thanksgiving." And The New York Times served up its own version of "How to Talk to Your Relatives About Politics at Thanksgiving,"...

Winter is coming. And with it, the Republican Party could see a third season of its presidential primary dominated by Donald Trump. The collective wisdom after the Paris terrorist attacks—that voters would gravitate toward a battle-tested, policy-minded candidate with experience to lead in such turbulent times has yet to take hold. In fact, Trump not only continues to top polls, but a new survey of Iowa voters shows he is considered the best candidate to handle terrorism.

The chaos that erupted across college campuses earlier this month escalated racial tensions among students to levels not seen since the 1950s and 60s, as radical activists sought to enforce a new orthodoxy of ‘white privilege’ across universities. The inevitable consequence — a newly-racialized American campus — is beginning to emerge. Student protesters at Princeton performed a valuable public service last week when they demanded that the administration acknowledge the toxic legacy of Woodrow Wilson, who served as university president and New Jersey governor before being elected to the White House. He was an unapologetic racist whose administration rolled back the gains that African-Americans achieved just after the Civil War, purged black workers from influential jobs and transformed the government into an instrument of white supremacy. At the same time, meat consumption is forecast to increase by 76 percent over the next several decades, thanks to...

German police are taking legal action against theatre staff in Mainz for disrupting an anti-migrant rally by singing Beethoven's Ode to Joy. About 300 people gathered over the weekend near the theatre in the south-western city to protest against the government's "chaotic" asylum policy. But speakers were interrupted by the theatre staff singing "All people will be brothers" from the symphony. Police say the right to free assembly is guaranteed by the constitution. They argue that it is therefore a criminal offence to disrupt such events.

An aide from the Donald Trump presidential campaign warned the Republican National Committee Tuesday against GOP donors pooling funds to coalesce his rivals against him, suggesting that Trump would reverse his pledge not to launch a third-party candidacy if he felt he was being treated unfairly. Michael Cohen, who serves as special counsel to the billionaire Republican candidate, told CNN’s Chris Cuomo that it would be a "bad, bad decision" for super PACs to unite against Trump’s candidacy. This morning I had another talk with the German Chancellor, Herr Hitler, and here is the paper which bears his name upon it as well as mine. Some of you, perhaps, have already heard what it contains but I would just like to read it to you: … We regard...

[This is really encouraging!]"Algae has been engineered to kill cancer cells and leave healthy cells unharmed" 90% of cancer cells destroyed! Scientists have genetically engineered tiny algae to kill up to 90 percent of cancer cells in the lab, while leaving healthy ones unharmed, and the treatment has also been shown to effectively treat tumours in mice without doing damage to the rest of the body. Developing medicine that only attacks tumour cells and leaves the rest of the body alone is one of the biggest challenges in cancer drug therapy. Such targeted chemotherapy helps to avoid some of the...
