Richard Armitage, who served as chief deputy to former Secretary of State Colin Powell, says now that he would have resigned if he had known that the CIA was interrogating suspected terrorists with "water-boarding,'' that simulated drowning now banned in U.S. interrogations of detainees The Bush administration maintained that it did not condone "torture,'' but this ex-deputy secretary of state says water-boarding is exactly that. "As far as I'm concerned, that was torture,'' he said in an interview aired today by Al Jazeerah English. The CIA has acknowledged using water-boarding on three high-value detainees in 2002 and 2003 with the...

Brad Garrett's Racist Taunts Brad Garrett ignited a new racial firestorm yesterday when the giant actor dropped some serious slurs at a paparazzo during a heated argument in the middle of the street. We don't know what set off the scuffle, but Garrett can be clearly heard saying, "Wear the turban! Wear the turban!" People had to restrain both Garrett and the photog from attacking each other, but eventually Brad got into his car and drove off. A rep for Garrett was not immediately available for comment. Him and the pap are yelling at each other and being held back...

Deliberative legislative bodies tend to be dismissive when the people express an opinion the ruling class doesn't share. It started with a handbill posed on November 29, 1773 inviting Bostonians to attend a meeting to plan a protest of taxes on tea. When asked to comment on the April 15, 2009 Tea Parties across America, Press Secretary Robert Gibbs, said, in essence, "The people just don't appreciate all the things the Crown has done for them."

During the Tea Party protest on Tax Day 2009, Susan Roesgen complained that a sign that showed Obama dressed as Hitler as being offensive. However, in January 2006 at a protest, she joked about a protester who wore a George W. Bush mask with a Hitler moustache and devil horns. The "wad of cash" in the demonstrator's hand was actually several phony dollar bills mocking the Bush administration.

Rarely is there as transparent an example of liberal media bias as the tantrum thrown by CNN's Susan Roesgen yesterday while "reporting" on a tea party, but the full extent of her bias only comes into light when you look back at her attitude toward anti-Bush protesters. In video posted by Paul Chesser from yesterday's CNN broadcast, Roesgen harassed a man who had a sign in which Obama was portrayed as a fascist with a Hitler mustache. "Why be so hard on the President of the United States though with such an offensive message?" an indignant Roesgen hollered.

With her huge furrry ears and long, quivering nose, baby kangaroo Tijana is utterly adorable. But her unarguable cuteness hides a rather unfortunate start to her short life. At just a few weeks old, the tiny creature tumbled from the pouch of her mother, who had been terrified by an emu. Tijana, who lives at Belgrade Zoo, in Serbia, had to be retrieved by staff and is now being handreared. She is still so young she cannot survive outside of a pouch and must stay in a special incubator, where the temperature remains a constant 35C. Biologists have also made...

Approximately 2,500 citizens marched from Julia Davis to Capitol Park in Boise, Idaho, as part of the national grassroots tea party movement. Many signs focused on big spending, big taxes, the dangers of socialism, out-of-control government growth, term limits, and concerns with runaway government. Some signs focused on preserving gun rights, border security, honoring the Tenth Amendment, and protecting state sovereignty. An even smaller number of signs spoke out against the Federal Reserve, abortion, and global warming. Gov. Rick Perry did not say Wednesday that Texas should secede from the United States. But he gave his political opponents just enough to suggest that he’s suggesting secession is an option down the road. And they’re doing it. Here’s what Perry said, according to the Associated Press: “We’ve got a great union. There’s absolutely no reason to dissolve it. But if Washington continues to thumb their nose at the American people, you know, who knows what might come out of that. But Texas is a very unique place, and we’re a pretty independent lot to boot.” Perry has received...

(CNSNews.com) - President Obama’s “cap and trade” plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions is specifically designed to drive up energy prices and redistribute wealth, according to a coalition of environmental, union, and liberal activist groups that is pushing for Congress to enact the proposal this year. The plan would also redistribute wealth by taking revenue earned by the government in auctioning off carbon-emission permits and giving some of it in rebates to lower income households to offset the increased energy prices they would pay. The rest of the revenue would be used to subsidize the development of alternative “green” energy...

The idea of secession gets under the skin of liberals like few other things can. And this is so because secession trumps their power grabs. When someone like Perry says his state has the right to leave the union if the federal government doesn’t uphold their end of the bargain, it’s a stark reminder that “the federal government exists by and for the states, not the other way around.” And Perry has been open to the thought of breaking with the union as a last resort for some time now. I see no problem standing by something that is true and just but a huge problem in standing by sleeze whether it be a no good cheating pig like bj Bill or a sleezy report meant to demonize and terrorize American Veterans and citizens pursuing their right to protest the policies of this failed government. I remember all the talk about people failing to listen to the people and I know they are listening in on our conversations but they are not hearing what the Veterans and the citizens have to say! Instead they are trying to label you as...

We read in this morning's paper that militant "Islamic" terrorists from Somalia are now threatening to "massacre" American sailors because Navy SEALs rescued an American from terrorist kidnappers. The countries to which merchantmen sail, in defiance of plain common sense, still refuse to allow armed vessels to dock in their ports. A possible answer would be for the merchant ships to mount detachable "combat modules" that could be lowered into international waters while the ship docked with its cargo. ...In the meantime, though, we would like to remind sailors of a very simple way to kill pirates without using anything...

The Tea Parties held across the nation were a great success despite the tactical mocking of the Democrats and Left-wing Mainstream Media. This Tea Party movement must continue and it is the weapon that must be wielded against the entrenched socialist interests in Washington. We will lose our Constitutional rights as we lose our economic liberties because those liberties originate naturally because of our core Constitutional rights. So, the erosion of economic liberties serves as a dire indicator or the deliberate erosion of the Constitutional foundation of our Republic. Economic liberty gives power to citizens because it grants independence from...

With protests in more than 700 US cities Wednesday, and perhaps over 100,000 Americans taking part, it’s clear that a populist counterpoint is expanding to protest what they see as Washington profligacy. They’re zeroing in on corporate bailouts, a historic stimulus package, and a budget that could add trillions of dollars to the already massive US deficit. The impressive organizing effort – styled in many ways like the Democratic social-networking playbook that worked so well last fall – does indicate to some experts that the Tea Parties could have an effect on the body politic. “These grass-roots movements can make a...

Republican Bob McDonnell has lengthened his lead on all three Democratic hopefuls in the race to be Virginia’s next governor, but it’s a long way to Election Day. The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in the state finds the closest race is between McDonnell, the former attorney general and lone GOP candidate, and Brian J. Moran, a former state delegate from Alexandria. McDonnell now leads Moran by 10 points, 44% to 34%. The highest profile Democrat in the race is next. Terry McAuliffe, a longtime Clinton confidant and former national party chairman, trails McDonnell by 12 points, 45% to 33%....

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa announced a partnership Wednesday with three local universities aimed at positioning the city to compete for hundreds of thousands of federal dollars for clean technology research and a proposed state institute to study climate change. The partnership with Caltech, UCLA and USC is part of the agenda Villaraigosa outlined in his State of the City speech Tuesday to lure and retain companies that focus on green endeavors such as solar, wind, battery and hydrogen fuel cell technologies. Villaraigosa said the CleanTech LA alliance, which also includes the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce, Los Angeles Business...

The National Security Agency intercepted private e-mail messages and phone calls of Americans in recent months on a scale that went beyond the broad legal limits established by Congress last year, government officials said in recent interviews. Several intelligence officials, as well as lawyers briefed about the matter, said the N.S.A. had been engaged in "overcollection" of domestic communications of Americans. They described the practice as significant and systemic, although one official said it was believed to have been unintentional. The legal and operational problems surrounding the N.S.A.'s surveillance activities have come under scrutiny from the Obama administration, Congressional intelligence...

With some amount of physical effort, I dragged this broken old body to the Tulsa Tea Party, one of the three, held downtown from 11AM to 1PM. There was a sizeable turnout, though it was not easy to estimate standing (actually sitting as I am unable to stand too long) at the fringe off to the left side of the stage. If I had to guess, I would estimate 1000 to 1250 people were attending, which I feel is a fairly decent turnout for anything downtown here in Tulsa. I am glad to point out that almost every speech accused...
