  • Bill Kristol "Go ahead and raise taxes on millionaires"

    11/11/2012 10:01:24 AM PST · by rustyboots · 10 replies
I was sitting here watching Fox News Sunday and Bill Kristol made the comment as too why don't the Republicans just agree with President Obama and raise the tax on millionaires. He mentioned an income of one million or more. His reasoning was that why go to bat for the millionaires when probably 50% of them will go ahead and vote to the Democrats no matter what and so many live in California/Hollywood. For some strange reason I found myself agreeing with him about raising taxes, because he is right; they will vote for the Democrats until it hurts them....

President Obama may have scored a narrow victory Tuesday night ... Yet his squeaker of a triumph not only represents a bigger loss for the Party of Lincoln, but also offers a critically important lesson. [snip]In contrast, 21st-century Republicans have traded a devotion to "average Americans" for a love affair with free-market and limited-government abstractions. Consequently, the Romney-Ryan ticket invested heavily in the notion that naked market forces, especially fiscal austerity and tax cuts for investors, would magically lift all boats. The anxious electorate didn't buy this pitch, especially in states such as Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Michigan, where free-trade and...

BILL KRISTOL: The leadership in the Republican party and the leadership in the conservative movement have to pull back. Let people float new ideas, let's have a serious debate. Don't scream and yell when one person says, 'You know what? It won't kill the country if we raise taxes a little bit on millionaires.' It really won't, I don't think. I don’t really understand why Republicans don't take Obama's offer to freeze taxes for everyone below $250,000 -- make it $500,000, make it a million. Really? The Republican Party is going to fall on its sword to defend a bunch...

There were many factors that hurt Mitt Romney and favored Barack Obama in the 2012 presidential election. The Democrats portrayed Romney in the worst light possible; as a wealthy, out of touch millionaire who wanted to return women to the 1800's.

TEL AVIV – Did Paula Broadwell, the alleged mistress of ex-CIA Director David Petraeus, reveal a secret CIA detention center in Benghazi during a public speech she gave last month? Broadwell, a former counterterror operative, co-authored a bestselling biography of Petraeus, titled “All In.” She discussed the book during a keynote speech on Oct. 26 at a University of Denver alumni symposium. The speech is available in full on YouTube. During a question-and-answer session, Broadwell was asked about this year’s Sept. 11 attacks against the U.S. mission in Benghazi. She stated: “Now I don’t know if a lot of you...

On the streets of Manhattan last week, the American public were more concerned about the delay in restoring their public services after Hurricane Sandy than about the entrails of politics following the presidential elections. New York votes Democrat. It took for granted that Barack Obama would get a second term, and did not look much beyond that. Now, though, all America is having to peer into an abyss – or, to use the metaphor of the moment, over a ‘fiscal cliff’. It describes the moment on January 1 when, unless the Republican-controlled House of Representatives and the Democrat President come...

The recipient of those emails, fearing for her safety, contacted the FBI - which found that Broadwell had sent them. A government official told the New York Post that the emails contained such language as: 'I know what you did,' 'back off' and 'stay away from my guy.' The official added: '[Broadwell] clearly thought something was going on' and thought she was in a 'lovers triangle.' Little is known about the recipient of those emails, including her identity, but the paper reported that she was not Petraeus' wife. Memo to the California GOP: Rough couple of weeks, huh? What could be worse? I'll tell you what. In the state Legislature, Democrats won supermajorities in both houses. Do you know what that means? It's like handing your teenager a credit card, a checkbook and the car keys so he can drive to an all-night orgy.

We've heard about Republican inspectors being removed from their poll places all across Philadelphia on Tuesday. Now audio has emerged to not only confirm this, but illustrate the audacity of the corruption. According to the source of this audio, "Election officials in Philadelphia's 20th Ward, 1st Division attempted to prevent court-appointed Republican minority inspectors (regarding minority party) from doing their job to monitor elections." Here is a complete transcript of the interaction: GOP Inspector: These guys have a court order. They have to be able to sit here. Dem Inspector: They not sitting here. They can sit in here, but...

One week before the presidential election, a Congressional committee released Obama administration emails that showed a pattern of political pressure from President Barack Obama and others in his administration. The emails indicate favoritism toward Democrat politicians and donors in the awarding of federal energy loans. The mainstream media chose not to report on the emails, even though just days before their release, Obama had flatly stated in an interview that politics played no part in awarding the loans. In the old days of hard-nosed journalism, i.e., before the Age of Obama, if the president was caught lying about his involvement...

I come to you today hat in hand. I owe you all an apology. As you may recall, my election prognostication was something that looked just like 1984: 1984 bitmap from by hard drive; this is the one I intended to reflect: So, I’m sorry, okay? I feel my inaccurate prognostication may be partially responsible for some of the PEDS (post election depressive syndrome) that we’ve all been experiencing. So today, in order to assist you in throwing off the lingering effects(snip) (snip) For one thing, the images on my hard drive both shared the identical title, “1984.” As you...

In early January 1943, the United States Third Army was assembled on the large terrace in front of Peover Hall near Knutsford, England. Before them stood a man in a tailored, brass-buttoned battle jacket with four rows of battle ribbons and decorations. On his legs were riding breeches and polished, high-topped boots with spurs. Around his waist was an old-fashioned leather belt with a large, shiny brass buckle, and he carried a long riding crop with a hidden sword in it. Fifteen stars in total were placed on his shirt collar, helmet and shoulders. "I've been given command of the...

I believe that the election was stolen. All the signs pointed to a Romney/Ryan win. The enthusiasm was high in the GOP. The GOTV operation was excellent. How then, did Obama win? I think they were running a sophisticated game of electronic vote stealing and ballot box stuffing. What I am about to describe takes a lot of money. To me, one clue is the dog that didn’t bark: Soros. He was quiet during this election. Not a word from his puppets and minions. I vaguely thought this was odd. And now we know why. They had a stealth operation...

I have received messages of concern for our nation’s future. As you know, we have been diligent in praying for God’s will to be done and the decision has been made. That does not mean we stop praying. No matter how you feel about the leadership of our country, they are our leaders and we must pray for them. We must continue to be diligent in praying for a spiritual revival in our nation—truly our greatest need. One thing I sense in the messages I am receiving is fear. We must guard against this fear because we know “God did...

We are currently caught in a national debate which in my opinion misses the very (most) important aspect. We are currently debating between conservatives, and liberals. Conservatives are determined to maximise profits. Liberals are determined to maximise unions. Both of those are wrong goals. What we need as a nation, are maximum profits which benefit America. America is what is not looked at. America.

One point being made is that Obama won by going negative. Think of the ads. We should have had commercials about Obama eating dogs. Seriously, why do we hold back? They sure don't. RNC should have run ads with dark imagery and music and lists of Obamas communist connections and communist atrocities. Can we try this next time please?

On Tuesday voters in California went the wrong way on three propositions. Voters approved Proposition 30 "temporarily" increasing the state sales tax and income tax on individuals making over $250,000. They voted against Proposition 31 that would allow the governor to cut the budget in fiscal emergencies. They voted against Proposition 32 would prevent unions from making campaign donations via members' dues. Moreover, and worse yet, Democrats picked up two more votes in the state legislature giving them a supermajority, capable of passing any tax hikes they want. Those results are so awful I suggest you prepare for the demise...
