November 18, 2012 Allen West Camp to Contest ‘Suspect Result’ on 'Behalf of all Voters in District 18’ By: JIM TURNER As St. Lucie County has reportedly missed the noon Sunday deadline to certify new numbers after a weekend recount of the first five days of early voting, the campaign manager for U.S. Rep. Allen West says more questions have arisen about how the election was conducted. “Today’s actions cast an even greater cloud of suspicion over the results of St. Lucie County than existed before,” Tim Edson, the campaign manager for the Palm Beach Gardens Republican, stated in a...

Two Muslim politicians, who just won municipal elections in Belgium's capital, Brussels, on October 14, have vowed to implement Islamic Sharia law in Belgium. The two candidates, Lhoucine Aït Jeddig and Redouane Ahrouch, both from the fledgling Islam Party, won seats in two heavily Islamized municipalities of Brussels, Molenbeek-Saint-Jean and Anderlecht, respectively. During a post-election press conference in Brussels on October 25, the two future councilors, who will be officially sworn in on December 3, said they regard their election as key to the assertion of the Muslim community in Belgium. "We are elected Islamists but above all we are...

The debate rages on as to whether this product will be a success. Some people argue that Apple should not even attempt to bring out such a device in a crowded market. Apple needs this item for one reason and one reason only: to sell in the Apple stores. There is room for it there, and the company can get the full benefit of not sending the device through distribution channels, affording it price competitivity and high margins. Other companies have smartened up their TV offerings with some amazing capabilities. It’s not unusual for any of the brands including Sony...

A new study from the Congressional Budget Office starts with the scariest graph you’ll see today. Source: Congressional Budget Office In other words, you’re not imagining it: This economic recovery has been a big disappointment relative to what the United States has usually experienced after a recession. Growth has been 9 percent below what was seen in past recoveries on average in its first three years. The CBO report tries to disentangle where that underperformance is coming from and its answer is deeply unsettling: The U.S. economy just isn’t as good at growing as it used to be. The new...

When she was nabbed for speeding in New Hampshire in 1999, she failed to show up at her hearing, records show. Until Nov. 1, her license was on nonrenewal status for failure to pay local excise taxes. There are 34 entries on her driving record, dating back to 1982.

May 2012 — Anonymous emails, ultimately traced to Broadwell, were [FIRST] sent to Gen. John Allen, the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan, and several other generals warning them to stay away from Kelley, the Florida socialite. The emails came from the pseudonym "Kelleypatrol" and included notes on Allen's plans to see Kelley in Washington the following week. Concerned about how anyone else would know about his personal plans, Allen forwarded the emails to Kelley to see whether she was playing a prank on them. Other generals also forward to Kelley copies of emails they received. Early June 2012 — Kelley...

A relative who cared for her elderly mother, just deceased, is dealing with the various medical bills from the hospital and doctors. She sees on all of the statements now, a check off to be marked by the provider, certifying something to the effect that the treatment was "consistent with and appropriate for, the age of the patient". She says she never saw those before in all her years of caring for her mother. Is this part of Obamacare beginning to limit medical care for our elderly?

Politics: Union intransigence and unrealistic expectations at Hostess Brands have forced the bakery to shut its doors permanently and throw 18,500 people out of work. So much for Big Labor caring about the little guy. A down economy and two restructurings in three years left Hostess, maker of Twinkies and Sno Balls, in dire fiscal straits. The company warned its workers, union and nonunion, to make concessions or everyone would go down in a liquidation. Instead, one union, the AFL-CIO-affiliated Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International (BCTGM), imagined the company was bluffing and went on strike.

If the federal government can bail out the banking and auto industries, why can’t it do the same for Twinkies, the beloved, spongy, cream-centered treats that are vanishing off store shelves — possibly forever — with the news that Hostess Brands is going the way of the Dodo, which is surprisingly not the name of one of its many products. Over at WhiteHouse.gov, more than 350 hardworking Americans have already taken time out of all that working hard to put their name to a petition asking President Obama to nationalize the Twinkie industry and “prevent our nation from losing her...

For approaching two weeks, liberal media members have been contorting themselves to make the case the President's victory on Election Day represented a mandate for his agenda. When CNN contributor Donna Brazile tried this on ABC's This Week Sunday, George Will marvelously responded, "Almost every member of John Boehner's caucus won his or her seat by a much bigger margin than Mr. Obama won his renewed term" (video follows with transcript and commentary): Will Schools Brazile on Mandates: Almost Every House Republican Won By Much Bigger Margin Than Obama MARTHA RADDATZ, SUBSTITUTE HOST: Simple math? Israel and Gaza enter the fifth day of what the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are calling ‘Operation Pillar of Cloud.' As the war wages on it, is it time Israel invaded Gaza, with the goal to kill the terrorist group threatening peace for both Israel and Palestine? Israel engaging in a loaded conflict with Gaza isn’t an unfamiliar enmity, but it has become an excessive, futile matter. Hamas is mad that Israel is a living, breathing state, and Israel wants the two to live together in a permanent, peaceful time. Israel isn’t going anywhere and Hamas has yet to cease...

"Exclusive: Chuck Norris applauds private efforts to help Hurricane Sandy victims"Those wise and yet haunting words spoken by one of our nation’s greatest presidents couldn’t ring more true – especially today, as winter sets in on an estimated 130,000 of our fellow Americans who are still struggling without power. Many live without heat, hot water or inhabitable homes and question the government’s efforts to alleviate their condition. Amid the election frenzy, several mainstream media outlets instantly praised the Obama administration’s response to the Hurricane Sandy devastation in the Northeast. Election officials in Florida missed a noon deadline Sunday for their partial recount in Rep. Allen West’s race, which under state law means the results stand as they are — and with Mr. West trailing by more than half a percentage point. Democratic challenger Patrick Murphy’s campaign declared victory Sunday afternoon. -snip- Missing the deadline is the latest fumble for St. Lucie County election officials, and it likely to add ammunition to Mr. West’s claims that the election count has been botched from the beginning. His accusations gained steam Friday when officials said they’d found a box with hundreds of...

Is Black Friday edging out Thanksgiving?By Bob Greene, CNN Contributor updated 10:27 AM EST, Sun November 18, 2012 (CNN) -- The debate over whether the hand-to-hand-combat excesses of Black Friday represent a grotesque over-commercialization of the holiday season has lost its meaning. The point is no longer whether or not Black Friday tarnishes the holidays. The point is that Black Friday has become a holiday of its own. It will arrive again this week, even as Americans are still sitting at their Thanksgiving dinner tables. Black Friday -- with its door-buster sales, hordes of frenzied shoppers shoving for position, employees...

It’s not a good time to be a Republican. The circular firing squad — it was Mitt Romney’s fault! Demographics did it! Conservatives messed everything up! — has begun in earnest even though the 2012 election is less than two weeks gone.... That said, things aren’t that bad for Republicans. Here are four reasons for optimism. 1. The party’s superstars are coming of age... 2. There are an historic number of Republican governors... 3. The electoral map is bad, but not that bad. We’ve written extensively on how where Republicans currently find themselves in terms of the electoral map is...

Friends of a Kansas City single mother killed Wednesday in a car accident apparently caused by another driver’s sneezing attack prayed Friday for the mother’s 1-year-old son. The boy, injured in the accident near Smithville Lake, remained in serious condition Friday at Children’s Mercy Hospital. “We are pretty much in shock and just having a hard time wrapping our heads around the whole thing,” said Cheryl Krecker, a friend and colleague of Laura McClendon, 30. McClendon had taken a new job this summer after working for about five years with Krecker at Cramer LLC, a Kansas City office seating manufacturer....
