  • Lamborghini Miami Strikes Gold With Foreign Rich

Brett David has been selling Lamborghinis in Miami since he was 14 years old. But never before has he sold so many super-cars to so many overseas buyers. “I haven’t sold a Lamborghini to somebody who spoke English as their primary language in months and months, ” said David, the CEO of Lamborghini Miami, founded by his father. “It’s been months and months.” The flood of overseas wealth pouring into the United States is remaking many corners of the economy, from the Manhattan condo market to the market for Abstract Expressionist paintings to wine, jewelry and fashion. But nowhere is...

After the election, a lot of people are excited that they can now get healthcare. Or maybe not quite yet, but by 2014, when ObamaCare is fully implemented. The only problem is that healthcare is not like an Obama phone. The phones are all made by a standard process in a factory, probably in China, and they usually work. You can use them to call a healthcare provider. But you usually get the ’if this is an emergency, hang up and dial 911,’ followed by the phone menu. How will this change with ObamaCare? Doesn’t that give you a right...

I'm conservative/libertarian. My family are all Obama 'Rats/moochers/OWS types. We had just watched the movie "Lincoln". I opined that it was good (and unusual) to see a Hollywood movie cast middle-aged, white, male Republicans in a favorable light. Yes, of course, the conversation immediately became about race. A few of my family said that at some point in history Republicans became and Democrats and vise-versa. I thought my head was going to explode. I am a huge fan of history and absorb it - especially the civil war. But I had never heard this before. Should I buy more duct...

SAN FRANCISCO — Like a lot of newlyweds, Karen Golinski was eager to enjoy the financial fruits of marriage. Within weeks of her wedding, she applied to add her spouse to her employer-sponsored health care plan, a move that would save the couple thousands of dollars a year. Her ordinarily routine request still is being debated more than four years later, and by the likes of former attorneys general, a slew of senators, the Obama administration and possibly this week, the U.S. Supreme Court. Because Golinski is married to another woman and works for the U.S. government, her claim for...

An adorable 5-year-old girl on her way home from a family baby shower was shot in the stomach by a stray bullet early this morning in front of her Bronx apartment building, police said. Relatives thought young Hailey Dominguez had fainted on the steps in the Hughes Avenue courtyard outside her apartment shortly before 1 a.m. They tried to carry her to the fifth-floor apartment where she lived before they realized she had been shot. "We didn't know she got shot," said Keyla Rosario, the victim’s 15-year-old sister. "We were crying, not her."

Mary Richardson Kennedy’s family hired a high-powered Washington investigation firm and an ex- Manhattan homicide prosecutor to look into her death, The Post has learned. The firm focused its probe on Robert Kennedy Jr., Mary’s estranged husband, and on many “unanswered questions,” according to sources who say they were questioned in the months following her May 16 suicide. “It was definitely my impression that they were pursuing a wrongful-death action,” said a confidant of Mary’s interviewed by family investigators. “They had the same concerns I had about the crime scene.”

In Ghana, where deeply held religious beliefs unite much of the population, a new group has formed around a shared disbelief in religion. The Humanist Association of Ghana practices a philosophy that is mostly unheard of in Ghana, which a recent survey ranked as the most religious country in the world. Nonetheless, the group has already made waves in West Africa. Last weekend, the association hosted humanists from across the region for a conference in the capital Accra, where attendees listened as speakers discussed the impact humanists could make on West African society. Lecturers talked about how humanists can stand...

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Jorea Marple was carrying out numerous recommendations from the much-discussed audit of West Virginia's public schools system when she was fired as superintendent, by Board of Education members eager to signal to Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin and the Legislature that they supported the extensive review of education spending, policy and organization. Those board members have cited the need for change when explaining Marple's ouster, in light of struggling student performance. At least one member, Gayle Manchin, has commented further. "My viewpoint was, we should all embrace this audit and garner from its findings and recommendation that would...

ANALYSIS/OPINION: Breaking with tradition, this election cycle bypassed the “October Surprise,” unless you count finding out that Donald Trump is a complete idiot. (His “shocking news” on President Obama was his announcement that he was offering $5 million for the release of all drawings the Kenyan native did in kindergarten.) In the end, there wasn’t even a “November Surprise.” Americans, happy with their free stuff from the federal government and fully content to go $1 trillion in debt to get it, stuck with the status quo. The first post-partisan president divided America by class, sex, race, religion and America said,...

There is a dangerous philosophy emerging in our fast-paced, technology-driven world of which most people are totally unaware. And yet, when Francis Fukuyama, economist at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, was asked what idea posed the "greatest threat to the welfare of humanity," his answer was this philosophy.  And yet I'm positive most Catholics have never heard of it. Catholics certainly do not realize that they are being fed a steady diet of images in popular media that play right to the more seductive aspects of this ideology. What is it? It is transhumanism. "What is that?"...

It may be unpopular to say so, but it is true: the U.S. is very close to, if not past, the tipping point at which the majority of the people are net beneficiaries of big government — or so they think. People who receive a check from the government may see voting for a smaller government as contrary to their best interest. If they don’t pay taxes, why should they care about a tax increase? Perceptions are, however, deceiving.”Healthcare reform,” as the (Un)Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare) is billed, probably shows more clearly than anything else how most Americans, including Romney’s...

The Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI), http://mepi.state.gov, lists "Developing Civil Society" as one of the "things it does". Under "Where We Work", they list: Algeria Bahrain Egypt Israel Jordan Kuwait Lebanon Libya Morocco Oman Qatar Saudi Arabia Tunisia United Arab Emirates West Bank & Gaza Yemen Of course, Benghazi is in Libya, so it appears that MEPI is not hiding the fact that they work in Libya, but proudly telling the world on their website. And you thought the U.S. Senate had to approve all Treaties and therefore had the duty of overseeing U.S. foreign relations. Overseeing ? More like...

The sprinklers went off on the Sun Life field, dousing everybody with water. One side judge ran away like the sprinklers were full of hot lava, while some players seemed to enjoy cooling off in the Miami heat. Someone found the off switch a few seconds later, and play resumed.

What's in your bug out bag? My eldest calls them Good bags, Get out of Dodge. My second daughter (see home page) calls it her apocalypse crate, a rubber maid container filled with all the stuff she'll need, and has it in her car. It has all her old army stuff that couldn't be returned. For example, gas masks, mre's etc. Ours has the normal stuff, blankets, food, flashlights, water, clothes, fire, ammo, etc. It might be a good thread to have input, suggestions, what's good, what's frivolous.

Ronald S. Lauder, president of the World Jewish Congress, has expressed “shock and dismay” at the latest display of anti-Semitism among supporters of the Italian club S.S. Lazio, which occurred during a Europa League match between Lazio and the English club Tottenham Hotspur in Rome on Thursday evening. The match was marred by anti-Semitic chanting, with Lazio fans shouting “Juden Tottenham, Juden Tottenham” and unrolling a huge banner reading “Free Palestine”. …

Everyone has an opinion about the conflict between Israel and Palestinians. Some say that Palestinians started it with their rockets aimed at Israel territory, while others say that Israel was using disproportionate force and killing innocent people in Gaza. These points have been debated in the media all over the world. We must realize that following the same paths of hatred and rage will always lead to the same results - pain for both parties, people dying on both sides and a life of fear with no ability to see the hope for the future. It is time for everyone...

The White House "kill list"--a regularly updated chart showing the world's most wanted terrorists used by President Barack Obama during kill or capture debates--may soon be getting a rule book to go with it. According to the New York Times, the administration--faced with the possibility that President Obama might lose the 2012 election to Mitt Romney--"accelerated work in the weeks before the election to develop explicit rules for the targeted killing of terrorists by unmanned drones, so that a new president would inherit clear standards and procedures." Until now, President Obama has had the "final moral calculation" overseeing the "kill...

ROSEVILLE (CBS13) – Fists flew during a Black Friday fight at the Roseville Galleria as three men trade blows, knocking down a display. They were possibly fighting over a pair of shoes. It happened in the middle of the mall, as families watched in horror. The sea of chaos was the last thing Lawrence Corpus thought he’d see while Black Friday shopping with his family at the Westfield Galleria. “It could have easily become a riot,” said Corpus. But when fists started flying, Corpus pulled out his iPhone and began recording. “I know a guy took the top of a...

An Oxon Hill man was critically injured when he tried to pour kerosene into a lighted space heater in his living room early Sunday, fire officials said. The 50-year-old man, who was not immediately identified, suffered burns to 70 to 80 percent of his body, according to Prince George’s County Fire Chief Marc Bashoor. He said the burns included respiratory damage that is difficult to survive. Firefighters were summoned to the single-family home in the 5100 block of Boulder Drive at 5:15 a.m. to find that the kerosene had ignited the area of the living room surrounding the heater. The...
