Gun sales hit an all-time, one-day record one week ago, driving Black Friday retail sales and actually overwhelming the FBI’s background check center twice. What’s causing the gun-buying zeal? The answer is simple – the actions of a man who hates private ownership of guns, Barack Obama. He’s been doing it for a long time. His election in 2008 drove gun sales through the roof. And now it’s happening, again, because he is supporting the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty that requires member states unable to disarm their populaces to be placed under the jurisdiction of the U.N. Office of...
  • Over 200 Dead Bodies on Mount Everest

    11/29/2012 5:45:33 PM PST · by Daffynition · 59 replies
Mount Everest has claimed the lives of over 216 known mountain climbers in recorded history. The area above 26,000 feet is called “the Death Zone”, where breathing fresh oxygen from canisters is necessary for all but the most experienced climbers. The atmospheric pressure is about a third of that at sea level, so there is about one third the amount of oxygen to breathe. The air is so thin, recovery of bodies is impossible. As such, many victims lay where they took their last breath.
  • Vanity: Best Cookies to send to Afghanistan?

I'm going to send Christmas cookies to two former students currently stationed in Afghanistan. It is their first Christmas from home. I've eliminated anything that is too soft or could melt. I've recently discovered I can't send them anything made from pork so the ham filled lard cookies with bacon icing is out (ba boom ching!). Any suggestions on packaging would also be appreciated.

With a chip on his shoulder larger than his margin of victory, Barack Obama is approaching his second term by replicating the mistake of his first. Then his overreaching involved health care — expanding the entitlement state at the expense of economic growth. Now he seeks another surge of statism, enlarging the portion of gross domestic product grasped by government and dispensed by politics. The occasion is the misnamed “fiscal cliff,” the proper name for which is: the Democratic Party’s agenda. For 40 years the party’s principal sources of energy and money — liberal activists, government employees unions — have...

MM: Well, it’s certainly true that they could get what they have claimed for years they wanted to do by doing nothing. They could get a big Defense cut, and they could get a massive tax increase. But of course, they don’t want to get a tax increase on everybody, only on the top two rates. Also, do they really think it would be good for the economy for all of this to kick in? I tell you, I think the fundamental observation I would make about all of this right now, whether it’s this totally unserious proposal from the...

Japan's era of shoguns and samurai is long over, but the country does have one, or maybe two, surviving ninjas. Experts in the dark arts of espionage and silent assassination, ninjas passed skills from father to son - but today's say they will be the last.Japan's ninjas were all about mystery. Hired by noble samurai warriors to spy, sabotage and kill, their dark outfits usually covered everything but their eyes, leaving them virtually invisible in shadow - until they struck.Using weapons such as shuriken, a sharpened star-shaped projectile, and the fukiya blowpipe, they were silent but deadly.

Kokomo — General Motors Components Holdings, LLC in Kokomo has said they will let go all temp workers Friday. “We are releasing our temps,” said Kent Eaton, personnel director for GMCH Kokomo. “Its basically based on business volumes, which have decreased late in the year. It makes business sense to adjust the workforce to meet the needs of the business.” Eaton said less than 50 workers have been informed of their impending loss of employment. He said GM doesn’t have any additional employment cuts planned in the immediate future. “There are no future projections that this would be an ongoing...

(Reuters) - Al Qaeda fighters are still trying to make inroads into Afghanistan, U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said on Thursday, cautioning that battling the group would be a core U.S. mission there for years to come. Panetta made the comments as the United States weighs how large a military force to keep in Afghanistan when the NATO combat mission ends in 2014, ending a war that, at that point, will have stretched for over 13 years. There are approximately 66,000 U.S. troops in Afghanistan, but the residual force may number less than 10,000. President Barack Obama could decide in...

Many nights as I stroll into the kitchen after work three little ones come at a gallop. My daughters arrive first, bearing hugs, one on each arm. Then my son with a grin so bright and so big it barely fits his face lands a haymaker in the one spot a three year old can hurt you. As many parents can attest, boys and girls differ. Try as the Left may to thwart reality, adult men and women remain different. It’s impossible to comprehend human interactions without recognizing this undeniable certainty. White House: Obama 'Will Not Sign' a Deal Unless It Increases Taxes By Terence P. Jeffrey November 29, 2012 (CNSNews.com) - White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said today that no matter what else happens President Barack Obama--who is the only modern president other than Franklin Roosevelt to serve in four years when federal spending topped 24 percent of GDP--will not sign a deal to avoid the so-called fiscal cliff that will arrive at the end of this year unless that deal increases taxes. "So the President made clear that he is not wedded to every detail of his plan,"...

U.S. Interior Secretary Ken Salazar rejected a proposal to extend the lease of a popular oyster farm at Point Reyes National Seashore on Thursday, effectively ending more than a century of shellfish production on the 1,100 acres where Europeans first stepped foot in California. The decision will allow the National Park Service to turn the picturesque bay where Sir Francis Drake landed more than 400 years ago into California's first federally designated marine wilderness area. Salazar made his decision a day before the 40-year lease allowing Drakes Bay Oyster Co., to harvest shellfish in the estuary expires and one week...

French court overturns Concorde crash conviction By ASSOCIATED PRESS | November 29, 2012 | Updated: November 29, 2012 11:21am VERSAILLES, France - A French appeals court overturned manslaughter convictions against Houston's Continental Airlines and a mechanic for the July 2000 crash of an Air France Concorde that killed 113 people, ruling Thursday that their mistakes did not make them legally responsible for the deaths. The crash hastened the end for the already-faltering supersonic Concorde, synonymous with high-tech luxury but a commercial failure. The program, jointly operated by Air France and British Airways, was taken out of service in 2003....

(Full title: The Millionaire Man Exodus: What Obama Can Learn From The UK's "Tax The Rich" Plan) Regardless if the Fiscal Cliff is resolved tomorrow (impossible), on December 31 (unlikely), or in tandem with the debt ceiling hike some time in March 2013, after all the government fund buffers have been soaked dry as they were back in August 2011 (most likely), one thing is certain: America's wealthiest (billionaires and millionaires) are about to see their taxes soar - that's more or less a given. The question is what happens then. Will, the wealthiest - those who have access to...

So now John Boehner is angry that the White House leaked a one-sided version of his latest conversation with President Obama to the press: Speaker John A. Boehner of Ohio and Republican leaders are fuming after a late night phone call with President Barack Obama was leaked to the press, despite an agreement that it would not be, according to several GOP aides. As if this should come as a surprise! It sounds as though Boehner and his aides are starting to get a clue: Republicans believe the president is more interested in raking them over the coals publicly than...

Yesterday's post on new Cassini'S close-ups of Saturn's mysterious North Pole Hexagon were absolutely breathtaking in the view of the astounding spectacle that nature is capable of. Most of the images involving spectacles such as the Hexagon will usually be skewed to a certain color to dramatize the images to a heightened state of existence. But the images shown here today, on their merit, equally as dramatic but with a truer representation off their color persona that naturally tends to be more staid, neutral, certainly less dramatic as provided by the most recent batch of images provided below. Reports from Washington indicate that John Boehner and Barack Obama are negotiating the nation’s fiscal future under the cover of darkness. Boehner apparently reports to his House Republican caucus from time to time, and Mitch McConnell might have some idea what is going on, but no Republican other than Boehner seems to be playing a significant role. Washington Republicans who are most knowledgeable about the budget are apparently being shut out of the process altogether. We have seen such secret negotiations before, and they have never ended happily. Indeed, it was precisely such a back-room deal that gave rise to...
