"WE WANT BEER PARADE" It was a sign of the times when the Mayor is the one leading protesters down Fifth Avenue. On May 14, 1932 Jimmy Walker, then the Mayor of New York City, organized a daylong “Beer for Taxation” parade (later known as the “We Want Beer” parade) in objection to the Eighteenth Amendment, which prohibited the manufacture, sale, transport, import, or export of alcoholic beverages.

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel has criticized Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu over what is perceived as his public support of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney in the last election, Channel 2 News reported on Sunday. According to the report, Emanuel, a former White House Chief of Staff, said during a closed session at the Saban Forum in Washington that "Netanyahu supported the wrong candidate in the U.S. elections and lost." Emanuel also said that the White House expects that Netanyahu’s treatment of President Barack Obama will be different, especially at this time. He said the President was not willing to accept...
  • Muslim Brotherhood 'paying gangs to go out and rape women and beat men protesting in Egypt'

    12/02/2012 5:42:14 PM PST · by traumer · 26 replies
Egypt's ruling party is paying gangs of thugs to sexually assault women protesting in Cairo's Tahrir Square against President Mohamed Morsi, activists said. They also said the Muslim Brotherhood is paying gangs to beat up men who are taking part in the latest round of protests, which followed a decree by President Morsi to give himself sweeping new powers. It comes as the Muslim Brotherhood co-ordinated a demonstration today in support of President Mohamed Morsi, who is rushing through a constitution to try to defuse opposition fury over his newly expanded powers. Just 24 hours earlier around 200,000 people gathered...

It's been getting harder and harder to find FREE body wash. A couple of years ago I was awash with body wash because it was so easy to get for free. However, lately it's been tough to score free body wash. However, I have found a deal which allows you to get up to 10 bottles of 16 oz Axe Body Wash (or "Shower Gel" as they call it) for free. Since these deals don't come around too often, I recommend you take advantage of it.

Coffee chain Starbucks said it was considering changes to its UK tax practices, which allowed it to make billions in revenue while paying little in income taxes, following criticism from lawmakers, tax campaigners and the media. A Reuters examination of Starbucks accounts published in October showed the company had reported 13 years of losses at its UK unit, even as it told investors the operation was profitable and among the best performing of its overseas markets. The chain's UK unit paid no corporation tax - a tax on a company's income - in the last three years for which figures...

Before you read this, keep in mind that all this is just unjustified racism because Susan Rice had nothing to do with any of it. Except for the parts that she had to do with. In the spring of 1998, Prudence Bushnell, the U.S. ambassador to Kenya, sent an emotional letter to Secretary of State Madeleine Albright begging for a more secure embassy in the face of mounting terrorist threats and a warning that she was the target of an assassination plot. The State Department had repeatedly denied her request, citing a lack of money. But that kind of response,...

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — An upcoming U.N. gathering about Internet oversight is raising alarms from a broad coalition of critics, including the U.S., tech giants such as Google and rights groups, concerned that changes could lead to greater efforts to censor Web content and stifle innovation in cyberspace. Among the issues on the agenda at next month's meeting in Dubai are ideas to battle Internet spam and fraud. But also tucked into more than 1,300 proposals are potential hot-button items that opponents believe could be used by in places such as Iran and China to justify their crackdowns...

The Chicago Sun Times's report on Friday saying that if Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had to choose between U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice and Senator John Kerry, Massachusetts Democrat, to succeed her, Clinton would likely opt for Senator Kerry: “Hillary is not close to Rice, who is tough — but is not the friendliest person,” said a top White House source. “And Hillary’s brief comment recently that Rice had done ‘a great job’ was considered underwhelming and tepid,” the source added. Apparently, if this report is accurate, Clinton and Rice have not mended fences since Clinton ran for the White...

Geithner presses GOP, says no deficit deal unless tax rates rise on wealthyBy Meghashyam Mali - 12/02/12 09:50 AM ET Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner sought to raise pressure on Republicans amid “fiscal cliff” talks, insisting Sunday that any deficit deal would need to raise tax rates on the wealthiest. “There's not going to be an agreement without rates going up,” said Geithner, who appeared on all Sunday morning shows, during an interview with CNN’s “State of the Union.” “If they are going to force higher rates on virtually all Americans because they're unwilling to let tax rates go up on...

It’s Magic!- By: Larry Walker, II -The current 2012 Tax Rate Schedule is shown below. Applying the Obama-Doctrine, single filers making over $200,000, and married filers making over $250,000 would get a tax hike. However, since there is no cut-off at either $200,000 or $250,000 in the current tax rate schedule, the 33% bracket would need to be split, resulting in a sharp tax increase for a handful of unfortunate individuals. Thus, taxpayers with taxable incomes between $200,000 ($250,000 if married) and $388,350 would see their taxes rise by 20%, while those with incomes over $388,350 would get that plus...

Two Southaven police officers shot and killed two dogs in the same day. The chief of police calls these types of incidents extremely rare, but anytime an officer fires a weapon there's an investigation to make sure all procedures were followed. Southaven police said the animals became aggressive and had to be shot. "Normally this is a quiet neighborhood," said neighbor Walter Husley. Husley was outside smoking a cigarette late Wednesday night when he heard the commotion from the street. "I heard three, what sounded like to be gunshots," he said. Investigators said a pit bull was attacking a smaller...

Harvey Manssfield is the great teacher of government and long-time member of the Harvard faculty. Among his books are Manliness and an indispensable edition of Tocqueville’s Democracy in America. The Wall Street Journal Weekend interview profiles Professor Mansfield. At age 80, he can look back on an incredibly distinguished career, but he’s still going strong. The quotable Professor Mansfield offers this: “We have now an American political party and a European one. Not all Americans who vote for the European party want to become Europeans. But it doesn’t matter because that’s what they’re voting for. They’re voting for dependency, for...

Currently being developed by a consortium of companies, including Toyota, Robo Garage Co. and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, the robot will weigh around 2.2lbs and be able to recognise Wakata's facial features. It will then have the ability to communicate with the astronaut in Japanese and take photographs during their stay on the...
