Seven Secretaries of State have released a statement criticizing First Lady Michelle Obama for her false claim that Republicans engaged in voter suppression in the November election: “Unfortunately the First Lady’s comments continue the baseless attacks that have been made upon those leaders who are simply taking reasonable steps to protect the security and integrity of elections. This past election speaks for itself. In Arizona, a state that has a photo ID requirement, Hispanic voter turnout was the highest in the state’s history. In Georgia, African American turnout has remained high in each election after the state adopted its photo...

(snip)Connecticut is one of only SIX states in the U.S. that doesn’t have a type of “assisted outpatient treatment” (AOT) law (sometimes referred to as “involuntary outpatient treatment”). There’s no one standard for these types of laws, but (roughly speaking) these are laws that allow for people with mental illness to be forcibly treated BEFORE they commit a serious crime.(snip) Apparently far left groups (the ACLU filing against the law here) defeated a Connecticut mental health protections law just months before the Newtown shootings. Their primary concern being that the proposed law would “severely curtail the privacy rights and liberty...

When I wrote yesterday about the liberals coming out against guns, I had no idea just how some people would react. What once would have been unthinkable to blast out into public seems to be becoming more normal via things like Twitter and Facebook. Below are a selection of Tweets that are clearly anti-Second Amendment and even calls for the murder of the National Rifle Association President David Keene, along with NRA members.

Several sources in law enforcement and elsewhere provided what they said was the most current information on how the events leading to the school shootings unfolded. SNIP Lanza next arrived at teacher Victoria Soto's classroom. Soto is believed to have hidden her 6- and 7-year old students in a classroom closet. When Lanza demanded to know where the children were, Soto tried to divert him to the other end of the school by saying that her students were in the auditorium. But six of Soto's students tried to flee. Lanza shot them, Soto and another teacher who was in the...

It's only a "partial" cave, in that Boehner agrees that the tax rates should go up on those making more than $1 million rather than $250,000 a year. But if Boehner caves on taxes, who can believe him when it comes to any other red line Obama will try and force him to cross. Associated Press: Signaling new movement in "fiscal cliff" talks, House Speaker John Boehner has proposed raising the top rate for earners making more than $1 million, a person familiar with the negotiations said. President Barack Obama, who wants higher top rates for households earning more than...

The state legislature has passed this law and now it is up to the governor to sign it. The long additional training requirements required to let people guns in these places as well as the ability of schools to still ban the carrying of guns mean that many places will still not be protected. Still, it is a movement in the right direction.

SCREAMING mums at schools, dads cradling children... it’s all too familiar to those of us who live in the United States. Hours after the latest outrage the internet was awash with the unapologetic views of those who live and die by the gun. Take this: “No crime would be permitted on my property because I am f****** armed. I can’t wait to kill someone legally.” Or this from Alan Gottlieb, head of the pro-gun 2nd Amendment Foundation: “There was nobody in that school allowed a firearm. I find that deplorable. I’m sure Lanza felt he could go in because no...

According a report by the Associated Press, political appointees at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) repeatedly instructed Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents not to arrest an illegal alien sex offender who was employed as an unpaid intern in the office of Senator Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) until after the elections. If confirmed, this overtly political act further demonstrates the shocking politicization of immigration enforcement under the current DHS leadership, charged the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR).

Grant Duwe, a criminologist with the Minnesota Department of Corrections who has written a history of mass murders in America, said that while mass shootings rose between the 1960s and the 1990s, they actually dropped in the 2000s. And mass killings actually reached their peak in 1929, according to his data. He estimates that there were 32 in the 1980s, 42 in the 1990s and 26 in the first decade of the century.
  • Ending Progressive Public Education

If Barack and Michelle Obama feel comfortable allowing Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn to babysit their children, that is their problem. The question is, would you allow them to babysit yours? Let's take that a step farther: would you let them raise your children? Would you give them exclusive supervision over the majority of your children's daylight hours up to age eighteen, primary control of your children's academic curriculum and teaching methodology, and authority to arrange the broad social and moral framework within which your children will be educated? No? Then why do you accept modern public education? Furthermore, why,...

He had two bedrooms that were clean and orderly when law officers swept into the house after the shootings Friday morning. Lanza apparently lived in one of the rooms and kept his computer gear and other items in the other one, the sources said. In the wake of the most recent mass shooting in Newtown, CT, Gun control has become a hot topic nationwide. In a press conference Friday President Barack Obama said, "We're going to have to come together and take meaningful action to prevent more tragedies like this, regardless of the politics." Even though the President's statement was vague many feel that more strict gun control laws is the direction he is pursuing, especially customers at Wild West Guns in Anchorage. “I mean if you figure we have 300,000,000 guns in this country, how many are used in crimes? Statistically it’s insignificant...
