Dear Friends, At this juncture, I must ask for your prayers on my behalf. Last Friday afternoon, while driving home from work I blacked out on I-95 and rear-ended the vehicle in front of me. I was taken by ambulance to Laurel Regional Hospital and was admitted. During my three-day stay I had a head CT, a cervical MRI, an EEG, and a chest CT. They finally released me at about three oíclock this afternoon. In light of the circumstances of this accident, I am coming to the conclusion that I should not drive anymore. No one was injured...

Letís not smother the shale-gas boom. It is the crown jewel of the disappointing economic recovery. Why tamper with success? Yet, there are those who argue that benefits of shale gas could be maximized if we restricted gas exports, mainly as liquefied natural gas (LNG). This would, itís argued, keep prices low for U.S. consumers and manufacturers, contributing powerfully to the revival of American industry. Sounds convincing. It isnít.Limiting LNG exports might initially cut prices, but the long-run consequences would be perverse. By depressing prices, we might kill the boom. Production would become less profitable or unprofitable, and new drilling...

Gov. Jerry Brown on Monday pardoned 79 convicted people, most who committed low-level drug offenses, in an act that is for common governors to perform around Christmas and New Year's. All of the people who received pardons had completed their sentences and had not committed any criminal activity for more than a decade. The pardons address crimes as far back as a sentence handed down in 1954 for a robbery. While most of the pardons were for crimes of possessing, manufacturing, selling or transporting various drugs, Brown also granted them to people convicted of grand theft, involuntary manslaughter, driving under...

ATLANTA (CBS Atlanta) - Researchers at Columbia University have learned that using Facebook may be tied to obesity, due to the negative eating habits that could result from frequent visitation of social networking sites. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, obesity is a problem for approximately 35 percent of all American adults Ė a number that is reportedly rising with each passing year. The study, led by Keith Wilcox, Ph.D., surveyed almost 500 people about their Internet use, specifically as it pertained to Facebook, Menís Health is reporting. These propaganda pieces usually focus on the plight of Palestinian Christians in Bethlehem, laying the blame on Israel for the dramatic decline (from perhaps 70 percent to under 25%) in the number of Christians in that city. A media outlet for Ansar al Sharia Tunisia has released pictures purportedly showing three FBI agents who interviewed Ali al Harzi, a suspect in the Sept. 11, 2012 terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya. The release of the pictures on jihadist forums was first noticed by the SITE Intelligence Group. The US government had been seeking access to Harzi for more than two months, since he was arrested in Turkey and deported to his native Tunisia in October. Harzi's lawyer told the Associated Press yesterday (Dec. 22) that the FBI had finally been given permission to interview him. The interview last...

Gun control advocates' loudest voices are most heavily protected by guns. Andrew Cuomo, Michael Bloomberg, Barack Obama, Rahm Emanuel and other gun grabbing politicians are protected with secret service and/or security details that carry guns. If their argument is right, that guns kill people, it is more than appropriate that they disarm their security and themselves to demonstrate that they can live the way they are both proposing and legislating that the rest of the 99%, (not in the political 1% elite) live. If the Political 1%ers do not shed their armed protection for themselves and their own families then...

It was two weeks before Election Day when Mitt Romneyís political ≠director signed a memo that all but ridiculed the notion that the Republican presidential nominee, with his ďbetter ground game,Ē could lose the key state of Ohio or the election. The race is ďunmistakably moving in Mitt Romneyís direction,Ē the memo said. But the claims proved wildly off the mark, a fact embarrassingly underscored when the high-tech voter turnout system that Romney himself called ďstate of the artĒ crashed at the worst moment, on Election Day. To this day, Romneyís aides wonder how it all went so wrong.
  • "All Clear" Given on Potential 2040 Impact of Asteroid 2011 AG5

NASA scientists have announced that new observations of 2011 AG5 show that this asteroid, once thought to have a worrisome potential to threaten Earth, no longer poses a significant risk of impact. The orbital uncertainties of the 140m diameter near-Earth asteroid had previously allowed a 0.2% chance of collision in Feb. 2040, leading to a call for more observations to better constrain the asteroid's future course. ... Richard Wainscoat and Marco Micheli used the Gemini 8-meter telescope at Mauna Kea, Hawaii to successfully recover and observe the small and very faint asteroid on October 20, 21 and 27, 2012. In...

Over half of voting Americans are pleased to see Barack Obama continue for a second term while just under 50% are wondering how voters could reelect him after such a dismal record of broken promises. As believers, we ask--Is God guiding us, punishing us, or reminding us again of what truly counts in the Kingdom of God. After all, at this time of the year, when we celebrate the birth of Christ when God chose to lower himself into our playpen that by His grace we might join the family of God, we wonder what God is doing to...
