Today is Christmas Day. Hanukkah ended nine days ago. New Years Day is seven days from now. Yet... for some explicable reason, Google thinks today is "Holidays." In their description of their Christmas day graphic, Google writes "Happy Holidays from Google." Well thanks, Google that's very nice of you. Very inclusive.

The Byzantine icon representing this article is the work of the 16th-century iconographer Theophanes the Cretan. Many Muslims around the world today would consider it offensive and insulting to Islam. Muslims in the Balkans just a few years ago have entered churches and destroyed icons like this one for precisely that reason. How does this icon insult Islam? In many ways, including these: 1. It depicts human beings, which violates the traditional Islamic prohibition of images and would be considered idolatrous and blasphemous on its face. 2. It depicts Jesus not as a Muslim prophet. Instead, it depicts Jesus in...

The November 2012 rate was 2.0 percentage points lower than the year-ago rate of 10.1 percent. Private-sector job growth over the month jumped to more than 24,000. Since the month before the Governor took office after December 2010, the state’s...

A young Jewish girl was pranked by Santa after she refused to believe that Santa comes to Jewish houses. While celebrating Chanukah the young Jewish girl opened her mother’s closet and found Christmas presents with her name on it. 4-year-old Ashley questioned her mother about the gifts. Her mother Amy said that Santa dropped the gifts off early. The family participated in a Christmas celebration at the girl’s aunt’s house, but clever Ashley did not believe the reasoning. That is when Ashley’s father asked his co workers at Z100 radio show to pretend to be Santa and prank call his...
  • Isikoff: I Had 'Certain Homicidal Tendencies' After Drudge Scooped the Lewinsky Story

In Newsweek's final print edition, Michael Isikoff writes about when the magazine decided to hold the story of Bill Clinton's affair with Monica Lewinsky. "The decision was final: Newsweek would hold the story," Isikoff writes, saying that "the brass wanted more work" done on the story before going to print with it. A few days later, the story of the decade would be broken by the Drudge Report. "It didn’t take long, of course, for it to explode," writes the former Newsweek writer. "Early Sunday morning, Internet scribe Matt Drudge popped his screaming 'World Exclusive': 'NEWSWEEK KILLS STORY ON WHITE...

Richard Adams, an early figure in the push for gay marriage decades before it reached the center of the national consciousness, has died at the age of 65. After a brief illness, Adams died in the Hollywood home he shared with Tony Sullivan, his partner of 43 years, attorney Lavi Soloway told The AP. Adams and Sullivan met at an L.A. gay bar called The Closet in 1971, but their life and relationship would soon be on display for a global audience. They were granted a marriage license in 1975, but for years fought in vain to see it recognized...

Supreme Court prosecutor Yiannis Tentes has ordered an investigation into whether pharmaceutical companies or pharmacists have been complicit in creating a shortage of medicines in Greece on purpose. Tentes has asked all of Greece’s appeals court prosecutors to probe the allegations after SYRIZA MP Panayiotis Kouroublis brought up the matter in Parliament. Tentes wants to know if patients have been unduly exposed to illnesses as a result of market players creating shortages of drugs. Meanwhile, the Athens Medical Association (ISA) has filed an appeal with the Council of State, Greece’s top administrative court, against the government’s decision in November to...

For the first time since the 18th century, the European bison is returning to Germany to live in the wild. The wisent, as it is also known, has been brought to the country by a famous prince. Although the creatures' survival is uncertain, the project has already attracted considerable attention. Info With nothing but spruce trees for entire square kilometers at a time, this managed forest isn't exactly what you would call a wilderness. Nevertheless, the forest, together with its ponds and meadows, provides shelter to many a rare species. In the forest surrounding the town of Bad Berleburg, on...

Jim Rimes racked up $2 million on his GOP credit card. TALLAHASSEE - While using his first term as Senate president to push an aggressive ethics reform package, Don Gaetz, R-Niceville, has hired longtime lobbyist and political consultant Jim Rimes to a top-tier post. The practice of lobbyists working inside state government, or — more prominently — state employees taking lucrative lobbying gigs is not new. It’s often referred to as the “revolving door.” The Rimes hire, though, comes as Gaetz and House Speaker Will Weatherford, R-Wesley Chapel, have set up committees to examine ways to toughen state ethics laws....

"A flag bearing a crescent and star flies from a flagpole in front of the World Trade Center, next to a Christmas tree and a menorah." New York Times, 1997 In 1997, Mohammed T. Mehdi, the head of the Arab-American Committee and the National Council on Islamic Affairs, lobbied to have a crescent and star go up at the World Trade Center during the holiday season. His wish was granted, despite the fact that Mehdi had been an adviser to Sheik Omar Abdel-Rahman. In the name of diversity and political correctness, an adviser to the religious leader behind the...

For two millennia, the birth of Christ has been seen as the greatest event in world history. The moment Jesus was born in a stable in Bethlehem, God became man, and eternal salvation became possible. This date has been the separation point of mankind's time on earth, with B.C. designating the era before Christ, and A.D., anno domino, in the Year of the Lord, the years after. And how stands Christianity today? "Christianity is in danger off being wiped out in its biblical heartlands," says the British think tank Civitas. In Iraq, Syria, Egypt, Ethiopia and Nigeria, Christians face persecution...
